I see the exposure time was upped from 1/2000 to 1/1600, provide the same sensivity the camera either underexposed or there was increase in availible light (passing cloud). If the camera is underexposing, the result SHOULD be even better when exposed "Right". Neh?

Well in all honesty... The shutter speed for the K20D shot being 1/1600 and on the K10D 1/2000 means the K10D has less time to collect light (1/3 stop), so more noise is to be expected. Not sure whether so much difference can be explained by the difference in shutter speed though...

From being serously underwhelmed by high iso K10 photos, I am now overwhelmed by the K20's.
Will have to see how much the dynamic range is clipped at high iso though.

If a ISO 3200 RAW photo from the K20D has the same noise and DR as a K10D at ISO 800 I'll buy one when it drops to $900.

Damn these look good. What to do, buy a K100D Super now and upgrade to the K20D already 9 months later when prices have come down, buy the K20D now and spend more than I really want or buy a decent compact first and then go K20D?

This does it for me for this camera. Having not just the ability to shoot ISO 6400 shots, but usable ISO 6400 shots is huge. If and when Nikon D300 users see this image or ones like it, they will cr*p themselves. This is far and beyond the image quality of the D300 even at ISO3200.

The 6400 ISO image was resampled to 50% twice. Leaving other NR applied alone, the resampling alone means that the smaller image is 1600 ISO (its pixels gathered 4 times as many photons) when looked at 100%. So please, don't compare apples and oranges.

Same holds true when comparing 10 MPixels (K10D) with 14.6 MPixels (K20D):

1600 ISO on 14.6 MP will look like 1100 ISO when resampled to 10 MP. This makes the K20D's ISO strength even stronger!

Nobody is comparing apples to oranges. Images taken at 3200 and 1600 ISO will have the same amount of improvement when they are processed for web display or printed. We're talking about the usability of 6400 ISO on the K20D. Looks to me to be very useful for practical applications.

Is it reasonable to believe or hope that the final product will have better IQ, both RAW & JPEG? Can we conclude that the IQ of the K20D in terms of high-ISO noise performance, colours and DR, will be as good as the D300? Also, when will we begin to see real pictures, particularly of low-light high-ISO of the final product? In other words, will the final firmware make a big difference?
