New Pentax dslr for mid-2008

During the french press conference announcing the K20D and K20D Pentax said that at least one new camera will be released around mid-2008 (2 different sources confirmed this).

Any info about this new dslr? Is it the K1D? (= same 14mp sensor but with more fps, a better af, 1/8000s...)

If a K1D is coming around mid-2008, I will skip the K20D and keep my K10D until the K1D is released... that's why I want to know.

Thanks

definitely

I think so many around here would agree with that. I would definitely wait for a pro model if it costs under $3000. In fact I will ask next week at PMA if they will be releasing another body this year. I doubt they will tell me anything, but it never hurts to ask.

Yeah...Get used to it. It is called "Progress"...

PS..Canon, Nikon, Sony etc..will keep bringing out new brands ad infinitum. It is also called consumerism.

When and What is the Question.

Well if Ben says it so, it must be so...as far as their being a new body. Whether or not Pentax will release it in a timely manner is a whole other matter. *cough* 60-250mm *cough*

Yeah, and we still have several months to hear how great it'll be
Maybe this way I'll have a reason to pass the K20D (for now). After all, I'm happy with the K10D; and what I need is not a new camera, but more free time for taking pictures

No, I wasn't there (live in Switzerland, and if I was I would have come to say hello ), but 2 ppl who were there posted the info on a french forum...

Btw Ben, can you just tell us if it's a "pro" (K1D?) or an entry-level (cheaper than K200D) camera that's coming around mid-2008?

Well it would certainly make sense with photokina being in August and canon supposed to be announcing the 5D successor then too. Will be interesting to see if pentax actually does some changes that interest me with this next camera

Note: pentax, i will gladly be a beta tester heh

As the actual DSLRs of Pentax will be replaced by the K20D and K200D, I think the Pentax is missing a true entry level, low cost DSLR. I could imagine a feature reduced K200D and finally the 645D.

I doubt Pentax could announce a K1D so close after the K20D. I guess they will first wait on user feedback on the new features and performance of the new CMOS sensor.

Can you post the link of the forums. I will be interviewed shortly by a couple of journalists for their magazines and want to know if they are the ones who will interview me.

Thanks
