Pentax Adds Pro Service

PPS (Pentaxs Professional Service) is now official and people can qualify for this exciting program.

The only restriction is you must be a Pentax professional photographer and 51% of your income comes from photography.

Benefits:
-72 hour professional RUSH service on most digital repairs
-Loaner equipment for up to 14 business business days.

This is great news and should be sent to all retailers.

It was just mailed to us this morning and I finally was able to read the information.

Here is the contact info: 1800-877-0155

Ask for the Pentax Professional Service program and they will help you out with the paperwork end of the deal.

BTW, they will service Pentax Medium Format cameras from 1975 till current but it takes 5 days for service.

This is for US customers only!

Oh, the 14 day loaner equipment is for either just trying the equipment out or when your equipment is being serviced!

This is big news people. Not for me, but from a business philosophy standpoint for Pentoya. They have just beat Sony to the mark for pro service, haven't they?

This is excellent news, and perhaps someday I'll be able to take advantage of it!

I was aware of the program and it's eventual release, just didn't know the details. Chris, if you have an electronic copy or a website reference please let me know.

Cheers,
Marc

Define Pro, 100% of my income comes from my Pentax. But that was only about $800 in 2007, and it's not looking better in '08. I don't pretend to do this anywhere near to full time. I shot 2 weddings in 07 and I didn't have the guts to charge the regular going rate in my town since I'd never done it before.

I'd sure like to be able to have a 2 week "try before you buy" period to take advantage of though. I'd probably be buying a lot more lenses if that were the case.

Anyway, not that I'd consider myself one at all, but what do they mean by Pro?

I only made a few hundred bucks with photography last year, but it beats the 100 I made drumming. My other jobs don't pay at all so do I qualify?

Any news that this pro service might be available elsewhere in the future?

Guys, he did state the requirement, but I'll clarify a little more: 51% or more of all your (taxable) income comes from photography... That means it's your primary job, not a part-time thing. I am sure they don't have the resources to accommodate part-timers for the demo/loaner program, hence the requirements...

Cheers,
Marc

Seems reasonable. Sounds like a good way to recruit more pros to Pentax,
