OK, no decision was made yet regarding Pentax compacts. So what? It's low priority anyway, as their ability to draw attention towards the brand is debatable. Pentax seems quite decisive regarding DSLRs, and this is what matters.

P.S. U.S. pricing does not necessarily reflect indecision at a global level
So what? So Ricoh is content getting low single digits of the market share.
So we are stuck with guessing what the lens price will be and hope to jump in at the low point, because if you wait a week, prices can jump to ridiculous levels.

Thats OK though, its not like Americans buy things anyway, even if they cant afford them...

Yea, maybe I am being a downer...when judging the health of a company, see how well it is doing in Romania and Norway and ignore the US.

I saw lots of inconsistencies in his statements too but was essentially shouted down by the hymn singers and US bashers IMHO. Be that as it may, the real issue is that Maximum Assured Pricing seems to be a mistake but I am genuinely encouraged by recent improvements in Pentax USA and how they have handled the K-30 rollout. There is still a LONG way to go but improvement is good.
Good point. I was pleasantly surprised to see Pentax add a city to its published K-30 rollout tour, apparently in response to reqests on PF. Ultimately, the direction one is headed is more important than how far along the path one is.

True, and it doesn't hurt that the city added is mine

I just don't know if they are or not. The folks at PRIC USA told us that Maximum Assured Pricing was because they needed that in order to get into Target.
Is that a statement made by PRIC USA? Can I see a quote/link?
Thank you.

I think TH is right in saying that when the big annual trade fairs come round, you need to have all your ducks in a row. It's sometimes the only occasion in the year when you get to meet some customers face to face. If the company situation is a little vague and still in progress, you spend too much time having to explain policy to your customers instead of firing them up with new product plans and the like. Well, that was my experience of the trade fairs in my industry. No one likes indecision. Personally I think Ricoh are missing a trick by not having a really strong offering the the MILC arena. Where I live no retailer has FF cameras in-store outside of a handful of specialist shops so how you would sell FF to anyone who wasn't a professional and so likely a Canonikony bunny is rather a difficult question. But a good MILC or even a fixed-lens offering - a larger Q with a 1" sensor and 24-120 zoom, say - would sit right in the big chains all over the place.

Yes, TH's logic apparently made sense however the example is ill chosen. Pentax compacts? Who cares about them? And it's not indecision, but taking their time to decide on a low important issue. Their intentions (on the things that matters) were made clear in February, with the published roadmaps.

I believe that you have the power within you to find your own answers. Try harder.

There's no point in spending hours "trying harder"; I will just assume I can't find that because it doesn't exist; since you won't even give me some pointers.
And please don't take this as an affront. There's the saying, "trust but do verify" - since memory is not infallible, either you (who remembers the statement as coming from PRIAC) and me (who thinks it's more a speculation/reading between the lines/logical conclusion/whatever - but not necessarily false) could remember wrong.

Simply because you failed to find it in Ned's statements does not mean it did not happen. Sorry, but I am not going to get into proving everything all over again. I am not your research assistant and do not ask me to be so again. My earlier statements have all proven to be true in the matter of Maximum Assured Pricing and the B&M debate. Its just that simple. Out.
