It's hard to make a diaphraghm with many blades stop down fast enough, or at least reliably; the blades tend to get sticky or worn after a certain period of time.
IIRC this is one of the reasons that lenses with auto stop down mechanisms have fewer blades .

Ah well, that would explain the the new build, but leads to another question...

which "modern" lens is likely to live so long that the blades get sticky etc? isn't the electric the part to fail much earlier.
The point that it might be quicker is a valid point i think.

Does that mean that they start to remake the DA*s in a better, faster, even more beautiful way ??
