Be careful, he speaks Old English. If you listen to him the next thing you know nobody will understand you here in the States and people will start going "Ehh?"

Yes, really.* If people give a reason why they've done or said something it's generally helpful if they get it right. Oh, hang on, this is the "News and rumours" thread, so anything goes.

That is a beautifull island. Bene there once in 1989.

You are right of course. But it is SOOO much fun to pick on the editor! Don't get that opportunity very often.

Other than as nouns, how else might one use a plural of a number? Also,

"In British usage, we do not use an apostrophe in pluralizing dates: This research was carried out in the 1970s.

American usage, however, does put an apostrophe here: This research was carried out in the 1970's."

Like I said, I now live on the Isle of Skye. I can see the sea a couple of hundred metres away out of the front window, the Cullins out of the side window, and we have about two-thirds of an acre to tend, so I suspect that I get out more than most!

Are you working at a distillery now?

I would have said it if he didn't. Apostrophes in correct American English usage indicate possessives of nouns, e.g., the quote above is in response to Talisker's statement. They are also used to show omission of letters, as demonstrated in the '70s above. Lastly apostrophes are used to indicate plurality of single letters, for example as we discuss correct grammar here everyone should remember to mind their p's and q's. While the previous example is also possessive, another example would be to explain the correct spelling of possessive, with four s's, not four ss.

I think I need to clean my laptop screen, there seems to be a lot of little black specs on it.

Oh no, it's only this thread and all the misplaced apostrophes.

Not worth waiting until 2013

I would. I prefer the usability/ergonomics of the Pentax to anything produced by Nikon or Canon.
