Your answer implies that somehow a FF dSLR would be different in its treatment of the lens than a FF Film SLR, why would that be the case?
Marketing? Profits? What if said FF Pentax detected the lens type and auto cropped sensor output for a dx type lens?
(i think although i could be wrong as i have not seen it with my own eyes, that the nikon ff cameras already do this)..

I have the 35mm DA L F2.4 and i assure you that it's always mounted on a FF-film only. No vigneting, no flaws. Absolutely perfect.
It is a great lens, mine is on my camera most of the time as well.

Amazon probably only ordered two, this is a hard lens to love. No aperture ring, no distance scale, no DoF scale(obviously), no IR index (obviously), slower than the FA 50 1.4 or 1.7, only projects an APS-C image circle, I'm not sure why Pentax bothered especially at this price. If they had added weather sealing, that might have been something.
Hmm maybe they're just waiting for demand feedback and see if they should stock up more... the DA 35 f2.4 was a good seller I think. No reason for no love to be given the DA 50 f1.8.

It lacks reviews because people haven't bothered buying it. If I didn't get my Sigma 50 F1.4 about 3 weeks prior, I would have bought the DA 50. Just an unfortunate thing.

I'll probably buy one when it hits around $200 or less.

I just don't need one that badly -- I already have and use an SMC Tak 55/1.8, a Cosina 55/1.2, a Micro-Nikkor 55/3.5 (Pre-AI), and I have had in the past an FA50/1.4 and a Rikenon 50/2.

It's nice to know it's out there, though. I'm pleased it exists. I'll get one eventually.

And I expect there are a lot more people like me in this forum -- people with one or more fifties already.

If and when it dips below $199.99 (which I hope is soon), I'll get one. But for now, my M 50 f1.4 does the job albeit without AF

iguess that's what it's all about.

everyone got some (one or more actually...) manual 50 yet, since they are pretty good

and only lacks the Af, so do we intend to pay 249€ for Af only?
not in a hurry i guess ^^

Now that you mention it, yeah I guess I find only the AF missing from my 50, which prevents me from getting all thirsty for the DA 50

Good choise because: DA 50/1.8 get reviewed by lenstip.com .... "disastrous autofocus"..."The tested lens deserves to be called a manual lens because the inaccurate, whirring noisily autofocus mechanism is good for nothing"

Interesting as that has not been the report here in the comparison between the DA50, FA50 and 50 Macro.

Yes, Nikon cameras do automatically crop to APS-C when a DX lens is attached. I can't speak for 3rd party lenses, but I suspect they would be the same.

The DA50/1.8 I just got wednesday (usual reseller closed , but then there was 40% on stock price ) seems way sharper than my FA50/1.4 wide open.
Sure the bokeh is nervous around 2.8, but at 1.8 it is creamy as wanted.
I did no direct comparison, but either my FA50 is a lemon or my DA50 is way sharper.

BTW the shots I made were around Iso1000-1600 on K5. Imagine the difference at Iso 80.
Oh and a little stupid annoying thing, the 52mm thread. I'm used to the 49mm (bummer).

Try lenses from Canikon and you will see that all three lenses have very average AF (like all Pentax set up). They are all semi MF lenses.
