Yeah, the detail is astonishing. Looking at the 100% views of the flowers and the doll's, I almost have the feeling that they are really macro shots taken from a few inches away.

And that doll shot is ISO 800! Close up you can see the film grain-like appearance, but the IQ is amazing. We kept thinking that the "bomb" was going to be some new feature that nobody else had, but I think maybe it is the IQ of this sensor. I still want to see the results first hand, but most of the samples I have seen, including the dngs, have been impressive.

hey u guys are up late....................the detail is so good I managed to read the name on the rail station. kazusa okubo. I can see some purple fringing in the top left, brace above the blue sign. Is it significant?

I tend to think that you're right. The highest resolution sensor, behind the Eos 1Ds Mark models, and it looks like they've managed to pull it off, getting more light to the individual pixels. The doll picture is exceptional, if medium Iso looks like low Iso on the K10; and high Iso looks like medium Iso; the K20 is tempting even though my K10 is less than a year old. I sure could find a use for Iso 3200

On the same page is a link to some beta K200D shots including a iso 800 shot that looks fairly clean. Resolution in all the images doesn't seem so hot, hopefully that is a beta issue.

Thanks for posting that!

The details and really amazing. Codiac was right about how amazing the images are with 100% crop! Definitely a camera for high ISO work!

Well, that wasn't exactly small. Try reading some of the stuff posted on the back wall.

Outstanding detail of the fake flowers, though.

I love the picture of the station. Even with a kit lens the sensor gathers so much detail. the writing and signage on the wall is just tack sharp. The doll in a 100% crop is amazing. You can see the thread count in the cloth. Fantastic colors . I would say the K20D just may be the fire from the spark of the K10D. Pentax is doing a great job. I would say the camera is well worth the wait. I'm wondering if and I say if there is a K1D in the making what we have to look forward to. One of these days Pentax will have a workhorse like the K1000 only in digital.

Those shots are fantastic!

Does anyone notice the Doll shot is taken at f2.8????? That kind of sharpness level and detail at f2.8 is astonishing.

It's also in the default JPEG/ Natural setting.

Phil Askey will not have anything to complain about.

Great sharpness and details! Not even comparable to 10M Sony sensors...

But look at the noise levels... Especially at the sky on the shot with white gates... Noise is MUCH worse then even ISO 400 on my GX-10... Why is that?

Yes, one thing that has been bothering me is that blue sky gradients seem to look less smooth with the K20D examples than with most K10D samples I have seen. Prime examples being the bridge shot on this site or beach wallpaper over at K20Dスペシャルサイト|PENTAX (Amenity)
