I hated the K20D sensor and that was the reason not to buy it and the K7. ^^;
The K5 sensor however...

Kind of sad really, the k-5 is the first "thing" in a long time that I felt was worthy of keeping around. Most cameras & stuff I've owned I was glad to get rid of when the new model was announced. I know it has had it share of detractors, but for me it has just worked. On a daily basis, image after image, it was a tool I could count on to do what I wanted.

I hope the replacement is as amazing as the k-5 was at announcement. But even if it is I will have to think long and hard about replacing the k-5.
So now Pentax is the brand with 0 prosumer DSLR bodies. They should at least leak news about a stunning replacement YESTERDAY.

Oh it just needs light, plenty of it. Don't push it to anything else.
Sure, for high ISO/Low light... the K5 was great.

So... the K5 successor(s) are ready, I assume .

Photokina is in a month or so.

I loved my K5 so much, I had to get another!

The K5 is/was a fantastic tool.
I hope Pentax builds on the K5 and doesn't try and do something too different.

I'm kinda sad that the K5 is now discontinued; I wasn't expecting these emotions.

In terms of IQ and ergonomics, me too! The K-5's IQ and ergonomics both get a 9.5 out of 10 from me. That doesn't leave much room for improvement.

I sure wish I knew what was around the corner! Pentax, please don't keep us biting our nails too long to find out what you have in store for us.

If you take Pentax/Ricoh on their word, that they will offer a four DSLR lineup, and whether or not you count the 645D as part of that lineup, then we can expect at least two more DSLRs if not by the end of this year then sometime in 2013.

I think it would be foolish for them to not enter the full frame market ASAP. I sense that there are a good number of current users that at some point, quite a few sooner than later, will migrate to FF be it with Pentax or not.

The K5 was indeed one of the best models in years even with the AF mistakes but i don't "love" the camera like i did the K10D.

I'll keep the K10D and sell the K5 for sure when i get the next best thing.
You know, I have to agree with you about K10D. It was and still is a hell of a camera.

Compared to Nikon and Canon, Pentax is slow to announce new products. They discontinue the current product, then announce the new replacement, then need a few months to get it to market. Nikon and Canon often announce the new model while still keeping the prior version on the market.

Let's hope K-5 successor's design will be K-5, not K-30 style, which, in my opinion, is an ugly camera.

The K-30 looks like it was designed by Casio and should have G-Shock stamped on it, but it it is 10x better than the Fisher-Price look-alike K-01.

Pentax is a strange company.

I don't understand how they think it is a good plan to have no current entry level camera, and no current top level camera. Don't tell me the 645D is the top level camera, it is in a different class altogether.

Nothing announced. No leaked rumours. No hint of anything.

We can't even expect the K-5 replacement to even be in the same line. Remember when the K-7 "was not the K20D replacement", but rather a new branch of the lineup? So 4 years later we get the K30, that is actually a K200D replacement. But the K200D was dropped 2 years ago, without a hint of a replacement? And the K-7 did become the replacement for the k20d, and then the K-7 and the K-5 were both current models on the shelf (and website) at the same time?

Pentax is a strange company.
