Originally posted by Anvh I doubt Pentax are able to keep bodies in production long. Most likely the K5 line is adapted to make the new K5 or the K30.
If they really have a limited number of production lines, this could make more sense. In the recent past they only had to produce 2 models (e.g. the K-x and K-7), or 3 when they had a mid-range model like the K200D. Now they have to produce the 645D, the Q, the K-01, and the K-30, with up to 3 new models coming (which all fill different slots). It would seem too soon to be producing a FF yet (unless they could work around the sensor availability issues), but a K-5 replacement and a and a K-r replacement may be imminent.
Since Pentax is said to be working on a 645D update, and they have plans for more Q lenses, they may not drop any of these lines (though it wouldn't surprise me to see the K-01 go away). So they could easily have 6 models in production next year.
