Photokina will probably attract many people who go by car and while I am not adverse to a good beer (au contraire), I do not wish to suggest beer and driving... Seen too many horrible results.

I'll go, to Koeln, somewhere it must be there, my anticipated ricohpentax k DSPIII with new f2.4 12 - 90. Yah.
And if not, well, Koeln is a nice city which I like to visit anyway.
And anyway, copiers get used less and less.
Sold my last da, 70, so, I am all set for a bright new future. With just a q 01/2/3 and k-5 with 31 and 100, really nothing very much holds me back.
And it helps my husband still holds on to some zooms.

Since Pentax released the X5 earlier this week this indicates to me that there should be some significant offerings at Photokina.

My minimal expectations are a replacement to the K5, releases of the DA* 560 the new DA*16-50 F2.8 replacement, a 18-200 F3.5-5.6 DC lens all being full frame lenses, an updated Lens Roadmap and at least a formal announcement and perhaps mockup of the elusive K1 Full Frame. Along with this I would anticipate some camera releases under the Ricoh name plate as well.

I just don't expect a FF Pentax at Photokina this year, but maybe at CP+ in January. For the K-mount I do expect a K-5 replacement and a K-r replacement to give Pentax a three tier line-up of dslr cameras. I also expect to see the final version of the DA560. Also a few new upcoming lenses shown under glass. Hopefully a new lens roadmap.

I can see a lot of disappointed forum members. Still remember CP+ is just 4 months past Photokina and is where Pentax likes to release the really good stuff. Also it does seem like Pentax is limited to releasing K-mount cameras to every 2 months at best. It could be because of engineering or manufacturing capacity limitations. So two K-mount cameras is going to be it. One released in September and the other in November.

Remember the lack of leaks on the X-5 until a day or two before the announcement this week. We might not get much in way of leaks until the day before the official announcement a few days before Photokina.

New 16-50 and 18-200 lenses would certainly not be full frame.

I am part of accredited press and we have access to selected booths starting Sep. 17 10:00 AM. So, expect first Photokina blogging reports coming in on Monday noon (CEST), the day before Photokina officially opens its gates. I may post in my blog if I happen to see something new from Pentax myself. However, most intn'l press will access Photokina later that day.
