Am surprised noone commented on the fact that the 17-70 is going to be SDM, thats news for me and it will be the first non DA* to get SDM.

codiac was saying something about the 60-250 being delayed cause hoya had sth new to add to it. didnt see anything new about it in the announcement though. and if I was working for Pentax Id feel a bit embarassed about writing another press release saying we will show off this lens when we did the same last year.

DA 15mm limited.. that is very interesting... could have been even wider though.

I also note a SDM rear converter. finally some new TCs. And the DA 30mm.. used to be DA 35mm. Hmm have been thinking about getting a 31 limited, wonder how the DA will stack up. 1mm wider sounds nicer to me.

In the Pentax interview, there was also mention that the "high performance" lenses might lose screw drive support and use a true USM ring drive. I doubt that's what Hoya is adding to the 60-250 though...

Wow, I was going to get something in the 30mm range. Now that is a tough choice, the 31mm or now the DA* 30mm SDM.

Wonder how fast the 30mm will be.

Isn't that already announced as the 200mm f/2.8? I read last week that it uses an ultrasonic ring motor. Dunno, it wouldn't be unheard of for that 60-250 then.

Let's start the speculation train regarding the 15mm... I know 'limited' can be f/3.5 or something. What's the odds it'll be f/1.8 - f/2.0 ?!

I hope not (the loss of screw drive). It'd be disappointing to get the 60-250mm (my goal) and not have it work with my K100D.

Probably an f2.

It is the old roadmap. DP Review just posted a short article about Pentax lenses being shown at PMA ( Pentax showcases development lenses at PMA: Digital Photography Review ) and in that they linked to the old Pentax roadmap. The OP probably assumed that it was a new roadmap when it's really just the old one. I'm sure that we'll be getting a new one soon, but it is good news that they will be showing these 3 lenses at PMA, as I'm sure they're just about ready for production.
Oops. Got carried away there in my enthusiasm for a weather-sealed fast prime. Sorry about that.

Another odd thing in the roadmap is mention of a "rear converter w/ SDM support" which sounds like a new TeleConverter, but there's no mention of the magnification factor? That's pretty weird. I'm hoping the 1.7X goes back into production...I'd be in line for it if it is weathersealed :-)

When I opened the link the old roadmap came up too. I think it's still on my browser's cache, and that's probably happening for others. If you right-click the link and select "Save as" you make sure it is the new file you are downloading.

And that means the 55mm for the 645 is gone...

Why DA 15mm? There is a DA 14mm already, what's the point?

@and: 15mm is already near the widest you can go without getting extreme angles.. the 10-17mm is there for a reason. DA14 idem ("even wider"?)

Okay, so after I got home I read the comments about the roadmap not being new after all, and double checked and read "October 2007", Then after reading people talking about the new 15mm, I cleared my cache and looked again -- ahah, January 30th, 2008.

So, of note: the 645D lens is off the map, and I did get my wish and the previous "35mm SDM" is now 30mm SDM and will be a ★ lens -- which is what I really care about.

I love my 40mm Limited, but having weather-sealed 30mm and 55mm would probably mean I wouldn't take it out very much. And depending on the price of those, it may be headed for the auction block....

Could it be some way to add SDM support to lenses that don't have it? Sounds pointless now, but could be a precursor to moving the drive motor out of the body a la Nikon's new low-end models (and Canon for years and years). Not sure how that'd work physically, but it could solve the complaint of broken compatibility.

Sure? It shows the 18-250 in the "Current DA Lenses up to Jan 2008", so I believe it's a new roadmap. You may need to flush your graphics cache or open that graphic alone in its own window.
