Sorry to burst the enthusiasm.

It is possible though this is the last in the line and further items will be ricoh
All the previous Pentax X series were re-badges. What is interesting is this one clearly isn't - new K-5 like body and use of SMC. Therefore they must have invested proportionately more money in this than the previous Xs.

This is the design the Q should have been in the first place
No way, the Q is so elegant. A bigger sensor would have given it a bit more appeal to the masses but increased size.

A couple observations:

I think this thing is small. Look at the size of the knobs, buttons, and flash relative to the body size.

There is no power zoom lever. I think it zooms by manually turning the collar around the lens, like on the Fuji X10.

Actual manual focus ring? That's a sound I like.

The pics that are shown of the new camera don't show enough detail; especially on the top view. The "dial/lever" around the shuter release could be the on/off switch or could be a zoom lever

I thinks so too. there's a "T" on the left hand side when your holding the camera.

No, not for focusing. For zooming.

So you think the Ricoh/Pentax president made the declaration that Pentax would only be marketing interchangeable lens cameras a few month ago and he didn't know about this camera? This cannot be a third lens mount ( beyond the Q and K)
it is definitely a fixed-lens bridge: you might notice that the sensor's number of pixels, "16 MEGAPIXELS" is written on the lens close to "26x WIDE OPTICAL ZOOM"

From anything I've seen, the masses only compare megapixels, they don't know what a sensor is. Larger sensors appeal to hobbyists. Small size in general seems to interest both groups.

I meant the "masses" inside the target group (not the average joe). I was just a bit unclear. The small sensor takes away a large portion of the hobbyist sector and that leaves only the small section of "hobbyists who don't base their purchases on sensor size".
