Personally I have little interest in cameras with so small sensors. But why do they have to make it look like a DSLR? And it's even almost K-5 size.

I'll see how the reviews go, but this might finally be the "smaller" camera that I can buy to carry around with me to replace my ancient Fuji F10. Looks like a nice cam.

The Japanese site has a lot of info (in Japanese) and some sample images. To navigate the page, last two tabs have the sample photos.

X-5?PENTAX RICOH IMAGING

I don't know what other bridge cameras are like in terms of image quality. Is it normal for them to shoot at 10 fps?

That's 10 fps at, IIRC, 5 MP rather than the 16 on the sensor. Continuous shooting at full resolution is a shade faster than one frame per second. It's a sub-$300 camera, after all.

Don't expect it to be a big seller as all the manufactures have similar cameras on the market.
You'd be wrong then. the reason everyone offers 1 or 2 bridge cameras (even Leica has the rebadged panasonic) is because it is a very large market in unit sales ($ of course aren't as large) I would think this along with the advanced P&S market are the only area P&S has held it's own, the lower end of the market going to cell phones.
I doubt they will sell canikon numbers or even Pana numbers. but getting it out there and on sales floors will be very good for the brand.

Also, interesting that it has HDMI where the K-30 doesn't.

It's a point-and-shoot sensor, basically the same one as in the WG-2 (which is the same size as the one in the Q).
How will this tiny sensor perform....noise? I get that it will be a great setup for macro shooters, but what about non-macro?

looks good enough to me (for a jpeg)

I don't understand though, why put the awesome texture on the lens body if it's not going to be used for zooming.. nor focusing...

On the WG-2, which has the same sensor, the close-up performance was pretty good, but landscapes were borderline tragic, and the shots were noisy. I think that the small lens was mostly to blame for this, though. See the samples here:

If you want a small compact superzoom then get the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS20 .

Couple of questions:

How does one zoom the lens?
How does one manually focus the lens?

This camera would be interesting to me if the lens were faster, it had a hot shoe, zooming was a physical connection, meaning I rotate the rubber part to zoom (ala slr lens), and manual focus was done with that switch thingy to on the left side. (focus by wire is fine, but I don't like zoom by wire).

I had a Sony DSC-H50, and I got rid of it and moved to Pentax because the image quality was poor and over-artifacted, the lens was too slow (even though it started at f2.7), and it had no hot shoe. The camera was completely useless indoors due to the slow lens and lack of hot shoe, as this one is likely to be as well.

Charles.

It may use only the live view from the LCD. Like other compact camera today.

I would love to buy one if it has all that feature with the same size as G12 ( or a bit bigger ).
