Well the DA*50-135mm would be on my wishlist again!

The DA*16-85 if it is what is finally released is rumored to be the DA*16-50 replacement. So it makes sense to drop the price of the DA*16-50.

The DA*50-135 and the DA*60-250 price drop is a surprise. Does it mean a new version of SDM. Just maybe. Does it mean a surprise (not on the roadmap) new lens to pair up the new DA*16-85. Maybe a DFA*70-250 f2.8. I can only dream.
Well, I would like the range of 16-85 better, so I would sell my 16-50 and get that...but 70-250 at 2.8 would be incredible, so I would likely dump my 50-135 and one of my favorites the 60-250. I know 2.8 from 4 isn't a huge difference, but it does really help in the wedding world. Of course, I would feel better about both of those potential lenses if they were ff....

It will make a huge difference in cost and weight...
Apart from the total replacement of the 16-50 the rest is probably about a replacement of the SDM drive which frankly hasn't woked well. Both the 16-50 and the 50-135 has dual drive which arguably is rather pointless and increase the cost and complexity of the lenses.
The 60-250 donm't need replacement but an upgrade of the AF mechanism...
...or it simply could just be a price drop!

I love my 60-250, but I would really like to go down to one lens over the two!

As far as a price drop, I don't care much because I am already done collecting the da* zooms.

The 645D has been reduced from $9,995.95 to $8,795.95,

That is still $5,795 more than the 36mp D800 so I think the price drop is a few years too late.

Are these rebates going to apply to other sellers besides the Pentax web store? K-01 with 40mm lens is going for $766 at B&H. With a $300 rebate, that would be only $466! The Pentax Web store price is about $900 before rebate.
The K-01 with DA 40 XS is under $600 on Amazon (Ace Photo) right now.

$900 - $300 = $600.

If the 645D sensor is no longer available, there'll have to be an update.

I'd love to see that DA* 16-85 if it's going to be real and released... though I do hope it'll come with a new, more reliable version of SDM... with all the reports I'm seeing here and on local forums, all I can say is SDM scares me away from DA*s..

I'm still hoping for DA*135-270mm/f2.8 in the future. Fits very wel in the lensline.

The DA* 16-85 is real enough; it might be a 17-85 or an 18-85 or perhaps only go to 80. Speed might be 2.8 or perhaps 4? What about 3.5? Anyway it is on the roadmap and Pentax Japan marketing boss have said it is the 16-50 replacement....
A very likely candidate to be shown along with the K-3 (or whatever its name) at Photokina...

I guess it's an issue of "when" and if we've caused enough noise for them to give the lens a green light in the factories.

And I really think that DA Wide Zoom ought to be WR.
