Are these rebates going to apply to other sellers besides the Pentax web store? K-01 with 40mm lens is going for $766 at B&H. With a $300 rebate, that would be only $466! The Pentax Web store price is about $900 before rebate.

Yes, very true!! hen wait a week and the price will drop down again to just above what it was selling for before the rebate.

Now, can we figure out from what is having a price reduction and rebate on what is going to be announced at Photokina.

My guess is a K-5 replacement, K-02 with EVF viewfinder or atleast an add-on EVF, a Q2 and a new 645D. For lenses maybe the DA*16-85 to replace the DA*16-50. Just maybe it will have SDM2, which hopefully will be a ring motor. Then maybe a new version of the DA*50-135 with the SDM2.

Anyhow, only a few more weeks before we know for sure. Pentax has to get the price reduction and rebate stuff out before the new gear announcement.

Until we get the announcements or at least solid leaks and rumors all we can do is read the "tea leafs" and make educated guesses.

It does seem like the Q sell pretty good in Japan and there is a new lens for the Q on the Q lens road map. So one can only guess that a new Q is on the way.

The K-01 price is dropping and people are complaining about the lack of a EVF. Plus there is at least one new XS lens shown last spring. So I will guess a K-02 with an EVF either built-in or as a add-on.

The 645D has to compete with the new FF Nkon 800E. It will mean either a new 645D or atleast a price drop.

The DA*16-85 if it is what is finally released is rumored to be the DA*16-50 replacement. So it makes sense to drop the price of the DA*16-50.

The DA*50-135 and the DA*60-250 price drop is a surprise. Does it mean a new version of SDM. Just maybe. Does it mean a surprise (not on the roadmap) new lens to pair up the new DA*16-85. Maybe a DFA*70-250 f2.8. I can only dream.

Anyhow it will be only a few weeks before we know for sure. Then we will start hearing about the lack of FF being announce at Photokina. There is always CP+ a few months away for such big announcements. A Q2, K-02, K300, K3 (or K5n) and a new 645D and a few lenses will be plenty to announce at get to the market in the next few months.

Indeed! It almost looks like all the DA* lenses are due for replacement? And the DA50-200 WR may be due for retirement - maybe there finally will be a 55-300 WR?

The SDM issues are, despite assertions to the contrary, real and pretty bad. So, my hope is that we'll see DC versions of those optics. Unlike the SDM lenses that have many reported failures the 18-135 has 0 reported failures, hence the hope for DC to replace SDM. Several of the SDM lenses have fantastic optics per many reports, hence the hope that the optic formula for each will be retained. Great Optics + Reliable quiet focus = slam dunk in my book.

If they are replacing the DA*16-50 and DA*50-135 with a new version with SDM2, Sign me up. That will go a long way to address my unsupported fear of SDM.
