Still a one-year warranty. Why does Pentax have so little confidence in their products?

New low-end DSLR? The K-r has been discontinued for a few months, hasn't it?

You're missing a K5 replacement, the K3 is certainly not that.
Also, the 645D needs successor.

Perhaps it is just a money making scheme .. one can buy another 2 years (if purchased from licensed dealer) for 20 USD more..

I suppose they could have simply added 20 dollars on to the price.. but they give us an option while also encouraging us to buy from licensed/authorized dealers..

This is interesting. Expected leaks to start 9/3/12 and they are right on time!

When you say the K-3 is not a K-5 replacement, are you meaning; as in its successor or something else?
Looking at the Pentax DSLR history, the pattern seems conducive with the upcoming specs.

True, I guess they may be using the NEX-7 sensor. While the performance of that sensor hasn't set the world on fire, maybe Pentax can work some magic on it.
The DxoMark results for the NEX-7 and K-5 are quite similar and the K-5 mainly wins by a small margin because it implements an ISO 80 mode.

In terms of quality, the 24MP sensor in the NEX-7 is practically as good as the 16MP sensor in the K-5.

No big magic required (although it would be nice to see Pentax squeeze out every bit of dynamic range out of the 24MP sensor as well).

Good Find! The same site also lists GRD5 under Ricoh, only saying that it is "full manual operation, prosumer".

Google Translate

I wonder if we can find any other products on there!

He means that the K-5n will replace the K-5 while the K-3 will be a new flagship model.

Let's say I'm still waiting for a ~16mp camera that does a lot of FPS as a K5 successor, the K3 seems to be a different class.
