NEX-7/ A77/ A65 - end August 2011
D3200 - April 2012
K-3 - September 2012

If anything happens on FF, it will probably go on a similar schedule.
Even if that is true, that doesn't mean the 24 MP sensor wasn't available to Pentax back in August 2011. K-5, D7000 and A580 were released at the same time, weren't they? It just means that Pentax in August 2011 wasn't ready to release a camera with the 24 MP sensor. There is much to a camera than just the sensor.

I'm going to skip this one. It sounds like a K5 that produces bigger files.
That's my take too. At this point I care more about DR and ISO performance. I doubt the 24MP sensor is going to be that much better. ISO 80 on the K-5 is too excellent. I rarely need more resolution. My (and the camera's) focusing skills aren't on par to hold up to the extra MP benefit of massive cropping, nor do I print murals.

I know some people are gung-ho about more MP - power to them. I'm hoping for a FF or a K-5n.

If it has no AA and has focus peaking, and has the same ergonomics as the K-5, I might eventually buy it.

Right now it seems like a marginal upgrade, especially if the green button is on the top and the video button is anywhere.

I don't know, I mean if it is the same sensor? Does anyone have some real information?

Why don't you get yourself an APS-H Canon and be done with it ?

Well all the good worlds could come together and we all have what we are asking for. My lensline is ready for a Pentax FF K-1. For sports I still would prefer on the long end having some crop-function. I know I could do that at home, but I would prefer to see in my viewfinder what my image looks like. I think we all could benefit from this great future that is already in the D800. For portraits, back to using all 24mp!

What is that supposed to mean?

Metadata for less than 10 mm is already "supported". They just (intentionally?) keep the bug in there which stops the info being copied from makernotes to core exif fields within the camera, because the lens isn't their own.
Pretty obvious, if they don't let the data be used then it really isn't supported by Pentax. Geez.

Bottom line, is that for lenses with a wider focal length of 10mm or less, the information does not make it to the EXIF metadata where it can be utilized in post processing. I really don't care if its their lens or not. They - Pentax, can at least drop the information into the metadata - its no mean feat of software engineering. If they are going to play the game of - "its not our lens", so we will not support them in some fashion, is petty. If, that is their intention, then provide the users with a FULL and complete line of focal lengths and capabilities (shift, tilt/shift, doublers, complete line of Macro, ultra long telephoto, etc.), and do not essentially use third party lens offerings to round out their lens family - and then place phoney limitations on their use.

D600... no focus motor? hmm, like a semi-stripped-down D7000 with a 135format sensor...
:
D600 does have AF motor and is weather sealed too

What were they thinking? I'm jumping. (Thought I'd get my almighty comment in before the announcements in order to avoid the rush).

They actually do support it - I have Samyang 8 mm fisheye and it is recognized and focal length information is correct in picture files. Then again Sigma 8-16 mm is indeed inducing this problem.

Still a one-year warranty. Why does Pentax have so little confidence in their products?
If lens release buttons will continue falling off at current pace, it will be totally understandable

@K-5 with taped button and out of warranty

24 MP with weak AA filter is the bomb for primes.

Russian Pentax dealer says that we could wait NINE (9!!!!!) announcements of new products NEXT week.
Maybe the first 7 announcements are for DELAYs of some kind, the 8th is for the PRODUCT itself (24MP) and the 9th is for apologizing for the near FIASCO!!!
