I was commenting on your statement that the 24mp Sony sensor is not as good as the 16mp Sony. This appears to be a common misconception, probably because people are comparing high ISO samples using DPR's interactive widget, which does not account for resolution differences. DXOMark equalizes file sizes to 8mp before comparing SNR.
As LamyTax mentioned, the Sony SLT's are not directly comparable to an SLR due to the fixed translucent mirror. Also, the ISO 80 setting on the K-5 stretches the DR beyond the norm, because the Sony cams only go to ISO 100. All these things combined have created a belief that the 16mp sensor is superior. I think the Sony 24mp sensor is a good step forward, but hopefully there are improvements like those you mentioned to go along with it. Since most of us expect the K-3 to be a higher performing body than the K-5, surely they have made some gains in other areas. The AF and Live View improvements in the K-30 were a good start.
The "cool leaps" that Pentax has made have never been in the area of sensor technology. Pentax have always used Sony sensors except for the K20D and K-7.
