18-55 and 16-85 are completely different animals. There's a big difference at both ends.

what about a 16-18 or a 55-85... or even the elusive 85-16!

Sure, but the other DA* zooms are all constant aperture, so I would be very surprised if they do that.

The problem with that theory is that will a 24mp sensor that is pushed as much as Pentax pushes it compared to Nikon/Sony...will it out resolve the old FA glass? Let alone M and A glass? I think so. You can already see with the K5 the difference between M glass and FA glass. I doubt we will turely get the magic we had from our FA's on a FF 24mp+ body.

This is one more reason why I'm more than happy with 24mp APSC being released vs a 24mp FF. Don't get me wrong, if BOTH were to come out I'd be saving the pennies hardcore (with the APS being the first purchase). But my style of shooting and prefered focal lengths dictate I'm more suited for the smaller format.

Besides... were pushing IQ of Canon's full frame with the K5 already. "oh thin depth of field man" I like my stuff to be in focus.
Isn't 24 mp aps-c more demanding than 24mp ff because of pixel density?

I would like an 8 - 1600 f/0.95 but that would probably cost more than the sheik's 2 million dollar 1600mm leica AND the custom mercedes 4x4 in that he uses to drive the lens around.

I just want a D-FA* 135mm F/1.8. Surely that is more practical than the 560mm telescope that Pentax is working on.

IMO, asking for a lens not shown in the roadmap is just an exercise in frustration.

True, but Sigma makes more k-mount glass than Pentax does. The Sigma 50mm and the Sigma 85mm have both been excellent lenses. I'm beginning not to care what glass Pentax makes. Sigma is rumored to have a 135mm F/2 in development and I can hope that the new 150mm or 180mm macros are offered in K-mount.

One day hopefully Pentax will design some new professional grade glass...... One day......

source?!

This is something missing from my collection. and finding an older 135 faster than 2.0 is an expensive and frustrating task. I love 135mm on both FF and APS-C formats!

That is the rub. There are more than one third party lenses released in the last few years that I would own if they were offered in K-mount. For example, I would be all over the Tamron 60mm f2 macro.

Rumor: Sigma to release fast prime lenses | Photo Rumors

The rumor keeps surfacing. Sigma plans on filling out it "professional" line of prime lenses with a 24mm F/1.4, 35mm f/1.4, and 135mm f/2.0. All full frame glass.

Hopefully some in K-mount. It seems Tamron has abandoned us

You are right. Their strategy is somewhat like Olympus 4/3 lenses (SHG HG etc).
