My point exactly!

Cant wait for all the whiners to leave, this forum is getting really unpleasant. This is a generalized rant, based on all these news threads

Nobody *needed* a FF a year or so ago when the K-5 was the bee's knees. God people need to take some photos or go buy a FF. (edited)
"Pentax is doomed, they only announced 3 new cameras instead of the one I wanted, im leaving for Nikon, <stomps, throws a tantrum, and runs off to the crib with blankey in hand>"

I think we would all like Pentax to have a FF for a bunch of reasons, I am sure Ricoh does too. Let them get there in due time and do it right, they sure as hell aren't going to rush it because some whiners on PF threaten to jump ship.

/RANT

I still think a K-5 II/s sounds like a fantastic upgrade if it is true. I still hope they announce some news to do with FF either way just to put the will they/wont they issue to bed.

I will make pre-order for K-5IIs (I need no AA filter camera and SAFOX X) in 1 week. Already contacted with manager of Pentax dealer's shop.

All interesting. I was about to pull the trigger on a K-30 (still might) but I think I'll wait until after PhotoKina.

I assume the new K-5 II/s are Weather Sealed as well.....

Well I don't care much about improved AF, I use old manual lenses with my K5. But if there's really a version without AA that could be interesting... More interesting would be a FF though, but then I might realize that my 30+ years old lenses are no longer up to it... Nonetheless I'd be curious to try.

This being said, I've tried the AF on the K5 and it's not that bad in its category. Of course you wouldn't compare it to pro-AF like Canon 1D but it holds pretty well against competition in its range. Improved AF is always useful but what really matter is: grab the camera and go out taking pictures rather than hoping for/expecting a new, better AF in the next camera ;-)

Still no FF !
Why is this a surprise to you?

Pentax has made it clear for years they have no plans to bring a 135 format DSLR to market.

You should only be surprised if they do announce it.

Would that be Pentax - the original company, or Pentax - the Hoya company, or Pentax - the Ricoh company?

I don't need a camera. I want one. I've tried other manufacturer's FF cameras. So far they've left me unimpressed. I prefer Pentax ergonomics/controls. I'd rather have a K-5 than a D700 or 5DII, and that's why I bought a K-5. I'd like a FF K-5 even better.

You're angry that on *pentax*forums- not photographyforums - people incessantly talk about possible Pentax cameras?

My concern about the K-5II and K-5IIs is that because we have images of this model and that Pentax are making two versions of it we won't see a higher end model (e.g. the K-3).

A refreshed K-5 is a good idea if the price gets lowered a bit and the refreshed elements are genuinely useful. I am disappointed that we aren't getting an articulated display as this would help justify a refresh. However it only truly makes sense if we see a higher end / more advanced model because otherwise Pentax will start to fall behind the competition.

May be a refreshed version of the K5 because R&D is invested in another area (like a FF K3 to come later on...)

If Sony releases the FF RX1 priced at the $1,500 mark, then Pentax is going to have very tight market. All those limited lenses will work great on a FF NEX.

I found the answer to my own question about price for the Mk II's

"Two more leaks: the Pentax K-5 II and Pentax K-5 IIs DSLR cameras will replace the current K-5 model and are expected to hit stores in mid-October. The K-5 II Japanese price is expected to be 110,000 (around $1,400) the K-5 IIs will cost around 120,000 (around $1,500)."
