I hope that the use of the SDHC card in the promo shot doesn't mean we won't have a full SDXC slot...

Selling like crazy over there! and this is why

Heavy Marketing In the middle of a crazy busy big street next to a HUGE Yodabashi Camera shop. People try and buy!
Very interesting, thanks! I was worried because the K30 doesn't show up until the umpteenth place in BCN Ranking's rakings. But BCN doesn't cover the whole market (and AFAIK not Yodobashi) - what's the name of that other Japanese sales ranking site again?

RH's latest blog post is a rant about how these images are fake - posted I believe before this pictures were posted by Pentax Spain.

Not really sure. Yodobashi is just a huge electro store. The same K30 attention was in many other stores btw. There would be people specifically try to sell it to you. Not mentioning other options!

But on my whole month in Japan, i saw one or 2 times a canon or nikon. 100's of Pentax and a sony sometimes. I was really stunned!

Indeed.

But it was official - this was the Pentax Spain tweet about the pix:
"Pentax Ricoh España @PentaxSpain

He publicado 13 fotos en Facebook en el álbum "Pentax K5II & K5II S & Objetivos". fb.me/2aVmwv928"
And the tweet is still there:

As an asset, or corporate identity, in the eyes of investors and the Canikon crowd, perhaps. But as a brand, I think it still stands strong. Kodak on the other hand went downhill after their first few DSLRs; they crumbled and nobody was interested to buy their camera division (if it were held up for sale back then). Pentax on the other hand, may have gone away too but the fact that their bucket was not left without a running financial tap means there's something with Pentax that's still worth investing on.
Kodak never really cared about quality equipment. Their focus was on selling quantity and film to the masses. The exception was the when they bought Nagel, a German manufacturer of beautiful rangefinder folder types. The jewel-like Retinas with their fine German lenses in the forties and fifties are a treasure I collect. By 1965 they had been reduced to something that looked like an Instamatic.Name: Retina 1B from Germany Front.jpg
