Most. There are around 100 (didn't bother counting precisely) colour and kit combination of the K-30 alone. All counted as diferent models on the statistics. No wonder it doesn't reach first place on the sales chart!

I still say a K-5 v1 to K-5 v2 trade up offer for a few hundred dollars would be a smart idea for them....

Canon.

And even if the answer had been 'no', that doesn't mean Pentax couldn't have been the first.

Canon offered a DSLR trade-in?
I'm thinking such a thing would require massive amounts of resources.

Let me know if you want to do a package deal on your 31+77. I could possibly be interested in the 55 and the 60-250.
OK, I'll keep that in mind.

Well Yes and No. They have what is called the "Canon Loyalty Program" you can trade in a Canon camera (broken P+S for instance) and get 20% off a refurb Canon (including DSLR bodies)

In much more detail here: Canon camera trade-up -

Can someone tell me if the new 560mm is FF compatible because if its not I'd say that sinks any idea of a FF coming soon.

To all of the people using Market Share as an excuse for no FF: How do you rationalize a 645D?

What's the point to know?
Its pricing is telling us something.
That Pentax made a mistake of showing it at CP+, and they found out later that its not worth to make/sell so they price it so high that no one will bother to buy one.

To those thinking of a good 500mm, just get the Sigma 500/4.5.
Kengoh in this forum (and a guy I know in the local forums) uses it to great effect.
Of course he's good at it too.

There's no way to know right now. Sadly they're still using the "DA" designator to describe it, if Pentax is ever going to be serious about FF, they'll need a serious decoder ring to describe the crop factor of each DA lens. Sure this can be built into the camera, but think about purchases..."now what's the crop factor on that DA lens? 1.23? Hmm...". Ugh what a mess.

The point? Well, I was trying to use the lens as a key to further unlock Pentax's long term strategy and to see if there was a hint of a FF in the future hidden in the spec's. According to specs I've seen, it is listed as APS-C only so I suppose its not FF compatible and thus hints at no FF in the near future. Only a madman would spend 7 grand on an APS-C lens.

You would think that if it was FF capable, Pentax would have the brains to label it as a DFA lens

Given it's a telephoto of that length I would be very surprised if it weren't able to cover a 35mm image circle simply by virtue of its inherent design.

I think the DFA moniker on K mount lenses is a red herring as regards FF. The two macro lenses were DFA because they were the first lenses introduced with coatings optimised for digital sensors. So in effect they were film lenses that could be used on digital. They weren't digital lenses with a 35mm image circle. The same broadly applies to the 645 DFA lenses. At the time of the macro releases Pentax's film cameras were still current models and there are still today a number of active 645 film users - hence the use of DFA in both cases; they existed in markets where film and digital were contemporaneous. That's my take anyway.

What I think is more interesting is the orange ring rather than green. Could this be indicative of deliberate 35mm compatibility? Then in future marketing Pentax can use the green ring for APS-C lenses and the orange ring for FF lenses.
