It is really handy with those fast lenses with sunshine you cant really enjoy thin Oof, can you.
It should come with an AA filter that doubles as a variable ND filter

Pentax K-5 II / Pentax K-5 IIs | PhotographyBLOG
For me as a VERY satisfayd Pentax user, this new upgrade could (want) very well make me upgrade from my K20D.
I can appreciate wanting to update from the k20d... pretty surprised you managed to resist the k-5 version 1 actually.

but if you already have a k-5 the k-52 is pointless... even if the new autofocus is 'amazing' it is not like the k-5's is bad.

I still can't believe they left the same PRIME II processor inside I just do not get it. We have a new flagship that has a lower spec processor than 2 other cameras in the lineup. WTF???
If they have put the PRIME M and implemented better video options and peaking, I believe people wouldnt be so disapointed. I'm still hoping it was an error in the specs

I've said it before, but I'll repeat it: It's not clear that the Prime M is a better processor in all respects. The M may be for Movie - i.e. it's video-optimized, and maybe it's not able to work with 14 bit RAW?

then I'll change my post to "I can't believe they didn't make a PRIME III and put it in the new iteration of the K5"

They didn't do it because the K-3 is coming soon with a 24MP sensor, 21-point AF, Prime III image processor, and a new flash system. The K-5II is just filling a gap. The K-3 had to be under development and on the product road map prior to Ricoh buying the company. I would be shocked if work on the K-3 did not begin the day after the K-5 was released.

Prime M is for cameras that depend heavily on CDAF. CDAF takes up a good bit of processing power while PDAF has its own sensor and processor. Prime M is just optimized for CDAF and HD video at the expense of still image processing power.

The K-5 II is not a new flagship.
It is the model between the K-30 and the real new flagship (the K-3).

What makes people so sure about the K3 being real then? I keep seeing it mentioned but it's never based on anything substancial. I suspect it's hope rather than anything else but maybe I've missed something?

I'm asking this as I'm in the market for a new body, but I want to buy it before March as I'm getting married then and would want it for the honeymoon.

As I'm upgrading from my GX20 the K5II is quite exciting (as was the K30) but I can see why K5 owners would be disappointed with the recent announcement, though it always suprises me when people upgrade every time a new model is released.

Until you actually can buy a K5II, it doesn't exist really, either.

I've been thinking we're missing the forest for the trees. The K-30 is the K-5 replacement. The baby K-5. I've been waiting for focus peaking and better video and it's sitting in the K-30.
