Good on you, Dave. No need to be chagrined - I'd consider it a point of pride if I had the balls (and skills) to shoot film professionally. Alas and alack, if someone else is paying the bills, I'm shooting digital.

Best,
Kevin

To me the alleged revived K-5 makes no sense. The K-30 seems to do everything the K5 does (less the top window) While I like the top window,
(and own a love my K-5, I don't see a top window enough to justify a separate model, although back in the film days Pentax had a whole host of
camera bodies whose difference seemed to be mostly the price. There were zx (MZ outside the us) some of which I never did figure out how they were different
except in price.

*IF* there is an updated K-5 then it would have to have everything the K-30 has.. in addition to the 14-bit depth, K-5 body, and the stereo mic input.. oh and probably an FPS and/or buffer increase..

but in reality it is probably best just to wait and see what happens... shouldn't be long now..

I busted the screen on my K5. I ended up buying a K30. A week later I exchanged it for another K5. Why? Not the top screen.... 5 EV bracketing, rear IR port, quieter shutter, better dust removal system, 14 bit depth (more DR), better ergonomics (K30 is too small), battery life, flash sync speed, AF mode dial, metal body (just feels better). The K5, for me, is a much better camera and worth every penny. K30 is still awesome, but I consider the feature set a downgrade.

I'm hoping the K3 rumour is true personally. A second gen K5 is cool for those that haven't experienced the magic of the K5 yet, and for those that feel going from a k5 to the mkii is work it. I don't think it will be for me... K3 APS-C is what I'm hoping for.

FF is not something I want. There someone said it.

A lot of people love the K-5, it's just that it's a dated body, so the enthusiasm is (very) slowly declining. There's a huge number of posts about the K-5 in our K-5 forum
It's not dated, it's like glued to my hands and I would like to use it for another two years with some updates under the hood.

They also give a hint at some of the specifications:

- New AF module with improved sensitivity (down to -3 EV) and precision (at least one f/2.8 AF sensor)

- New "air gapless" LCD screen for improved visibility and resistance to scratches.

digicame-info
google-translated

-SAFOX X to K-5 is a new unit of AF is employed. In the high-precision AF unit corresponding to F2.8, corresponding to low luminance-3EV.
-The liquid crystal of the K-5 II is a gapless LCD with good visibility strongly air is employed to scratches.
-There is a total of 97 colors order 5 grip colors, 20 colors in the body to Q10.

It is the information from the person who can be trusted. As rumors of PENTAX FORUMS, the K-5 II is a new AF unit SAFOX X corresponding to the lower luminance You seem to be adopted.

Then, as a reader recently, seen the image has been pointed out, you are like those of the structural change in the LCD monitor is difficult to get into garbage. I'm looking forward to what extent the new AF unit or how they have changed.

I hope there will be more substance in K-3 than in the "ghost" D400, which has been spoken of for ages but has never been seen and might never be.
