Not necessarily. The K-5's AF is OK and most people find it works effectively, the K-5 II will just have better AF. Progress.

Not a leak, but official, the Zeiss 2/135 mm lens will not be available for Pentax.
Unsurprising, the K mount version of the Cosina-Zeiss/Voigtlander lenses has been discontinued years ago.

[Sarcasm]Thats so right aaaaaall my shots are blury partly in particular the bokeh of portraits [/Sarcasm]
I think the statements in the forums are totally overrated. In most situation the AF works just perfect. There might be some improvements possible, and if they do that in the next Camera generation, even better - but in general the K5 is just a great camera.

I want a wide aperture 24 mm lens with a somehow upgraded K5.
There I agree, the DA21 Ltd is a nice lens, but somehow I would like to have a equivalent of the FA31 for APC. A 24mm F1.4 would be something and I see a slight gap here.

I am looking forward to the photokina. Even if I do not expect something for me this time, I have the feeling that Pentax is making steps in the right direction!

It hunts like a bird dog in low light situations. But improved AF is no reason to upgrade. They need more than that to get me to spend another grand after I bought a K-5 in February!

EDIT: Okay - a model with no AA filter might do it!

I am still underimpressed, no interesting news from Pentax at photokina. Ok they present some cameras, some lenses, but nothing interesting for me,
...but maybe interesting for others

For example, the high-end, expensive 560mm f/5.6 lens - of course I won't buy it; but it's a sign Pentax is back in business. Even the rumoured K-5 II would be a very capable and I'd guess popular camera; and they MUST have such a camera before going higher-end.

I think that the AF on my K-5 is not too bad, though I do get a slightly higher hit rate on moving subjects with my Nikon. So, any improvement in AF will be welcome, although I'm not displeased with present performance. The K-5 without a low pass filter sounds great to me, and if true, I shall definitely be in the market for one. It would have all the resolution I need for my type of photography. Unlike many, I would not be disappointed if the current rumours come to fruition. I know that many are hoping for a full frame camera, and while that would be nice, how many really NEED full frame?

where do all those rumors about the missing low pass filter come from?

The only sensor I know that allows that is the x-trans cmos from fujifilm.
If this is put in the K5 MkII it is a selling point.

But I do not believe Fujifilm is giving up what separates them from the others

Perhaps, the degree to which depending on your lens, the light type etc etc.

But name a camera that doesn't have some problems doing AF with low light and low contrast subjects. Google will find you millions of examples. Even the reigning DxOMark low-light and sports-shooting king the Nikon D3s has lots of user reports of focussing problems in low light.

The K-5 may have AF issues, but in low light it isn't alone.

What about issues with fast prime lenses? Isn't K-5 alone too?

A "classical" Sony sensor allows to suppress the low-pass filter too: see Nikon D800E.

Absolutely. The K-5 is the only camera on the market unable to AF with fast prime lenses. It's a well known fact. Pentax really needs to eliminate this unique flaw of the K-5.

K5 but :
1. Sharper
2. Even better AF
3. Faster processing power
4. No megapix overload (16mp and not 24)
5. Potentially a bit better ISO performance without the AA filter
6. Same winning size and handling

What is there not to like other than "Its still using the K7>K5 design" (lame criticism to me)
The K5 is as relevant today as it was 2yrs ago.
Still the best bayer type APS-C camera in DR and high ISO with chroma noise suppression 2nd to none.

As a K5 replacement, it makes sense (an improvement over the K5).
For existing K5 users and those who want more, wait for the K3 or the FF.

Need is a funny word. Do you need a k-5 without a low pass filter?
