No any difference between JPEGs converted from 12 and 14 bit RAW in real life photos. .
Only those 2 stops of dynamic range and extra colour depth in editing of the raw :P

really?

K-01 (K-30 has the same sensor) has the same colour depth as K-5 - 23.7 bits.
DR - 12.92 vs 14.1 EV (K-5 at ISO80) - lower than 1.2 EV.

DR at ISO100 12.92 vs 13.7 - 0.78 EV difference
DR at ISO200 are almost the same 12.32 vs 12.82 EV - do you really to see difference?

tonal range are the same
colour sensivity - the same (even K-01 has a bit better)

Seems Pentax will produce only 20.000 K5 II/s at first (source pentax japan website).

It was before. 20 000 cameras per month was the normal before.

Why wouldn't Pentax at least increase the buffer size or throw in some more video options? Do some cool software tricks like Sony does to improve high iso performance. If this camera had been released 6 to 12 months after the K5, it would have made people pretty happy (except those who were struggling with their K5s), but at this point, it just feels like Pentax doesn't have any bright ideas and so they decided to rewarm their last good one and serve it up again.

This is why I wouldn't be surprised if Pentax also announced an APS-C K-3 at Photokina. The K-5II only really makes sense as a fill-in, not as a range topper.

For the K-5, it was 18.000.

I think Pentax is just behind schedule on development of the K-3 and needed something to show this month. The re-release of the K-5 Silver and the warmed over K-5II all point to Pentax trying to buy time. If the low production numbers are correct then the K-5II/IIs is just a temporary solution.

Notice we are not seeing any real high end glass (the telescope is kind of a joke). I always look at glass to determine what a company is thinking and where they are trying to go. When Pentax starts releasing Fast primes or redesigns its FA Limiteds with new coatings, modern AF and weather sealing you will know Pentax is back.

Totally agree. Also the price for the K5II is kind of low for a flagship camera. There is room price-wise and technology-wise for an aps-c camera above the K5II. The question is if we will see it at Photokina in a week or at CP+ in January.

My guess is at CP+ where we will hopefully see some nice high-end lenses to go with the camera above the K5II.

For me as a VERY satisfayd Pentax user, this new upgrade could (want) very well make me upgrade from my K20D.

I'd guess the whole thing will become clearer after Photokina. At the moment everyone's view of the future is clouded by the questions of whether FF will replace high-end APS-C across the industry. Once that's out of the way, since the announcements at Photokina should give some pretty heavy hints either way, things should settle down a little.

Sorry I got overly excited.. I'll wait until after PK.
Let me know if you want to do a package deal on your 31+77. I could possibly be interested in the 55 and the 60-250.

I wonder how long it will take for the lens release buttons to fall off the new K-5s...
