Samyang to show 24mm F3.5 tilt-and-shift lens at Photokina

Looks like a very interesting lens. The widest T/S offering that will fit a Pentax K mount camera so far. I'll be looking forward to seeing the price on this.

I am *Very* excited about that lens! I have been wanting a TS lens for years, but I'm not prepared for the $3K plus price for the Schneider or Ukrainian/Russian quality control of the Arsat at around $400-$600. If Samyang can get it to market for around the price of the Arsat, then I will buy it, as it becomes my next lens purchase. If the price is higher than $1k, it will have to come after the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 which is also on my lens "short list". Finally, if Pentax releases a new super WR zoom or WR flash or updated O-GPS-1, then those will take higher priority than a lens purchase.

I have read about TS but really dont know about it. if the price is right, i think i know what im getting for my birthday.

considering the price of the current Samyang lens line up, i think (so pure speculation) that it will remain under the $1k limit. I think around $700

Where is this $700 coming from? In the Canon mount they will be competing with the Canon 24mm TS-E which sells for $1999. I'm guessing that saving 5 or 6 bills could get a Canon user to consider a Samyang. I'm guessing it is suggested retail of $1399.

In other news, this will exert some downward pressure on the old Pentax shift (no tilt) lenses - so if you've got one, the time to sell is NOW.

You don't get it : Samyang, like Sigma and Tamron, they design lens for a kind of sensor, 24mm is obviously for FF, then, they just change the mount ! It's always the same optical design.

The previous version : the Canon 24mm TS-E Mk 1 did cost around $1000 brand new. and as a Third Party creator they need to be under the price of big brand.

Moreover, Samyang produce good lens for very low price so far.

LOL, just because it's also for FF Nikon and Canon bodies. I'm guessing the actual target is those FF photographers. 24mm FF *is* a very nice FOV for architecture, which is the main target of such a lens. The fact that they add Pentax mount is probably just because that's what they did with their previous lenses, and as such it doesn't take them much effort. Of course this could be a great lens to invest in in anticipation for a Pentax FF.

Personally I have a Pentax 28/3.5 Shift lens, which I find slightly to strict for architecture on APS-C. OTOH, 24mm may be better. The fact that the Samyang is also a Tilt (as opposed to the Pentax) does add to its possibilities. On APS-C 24mm is a nice street shooters FOV, so that's where the application lies I think.

Hmmm very very intresting news here. This lens have ideal FL 24mm for landscapes (but in focus distance scale there is nothing between 1m to infinity and that is not good), for some buildings 24mm may be too long in crop body but maybe can do panorama. I hope weight not too much to carry around. Been missing something like this in 24mm. Da 21 will be replaced by this on my wishlist...
