That's a suggested retail of $319.95 in USD

The DA 18-270mm SDM strongly resembles the Tamron 18-270 (AF/MF switch, distance scale, focal length markings, Tamron PZD branded as SDM). This can't be anything but a rebranded Tamron (though I'm reasonably sure it's real)...

I'm not fond of superzooms of this kind. While I appreciate a versatile all-purpose zoom lens, I also care about image quality. To me, the DA 18-135mm lens is the best compromise between versatility and image quality. I'd prefer my DA 18-135mm any day of the week over an 18-270mm lens.

I agree. But if it is a rebagged Tamron that is EXCELLENT News! Tamron has not released anything recently for K mount so if Ricoh has re-established/mended that relationship that is far better news than any specific features for a single lens. Still, I hope its not SDM.

Tamron's Piezo Drive (PZD) is a special type of ultrasonic motor and can be treated as SDM by Pentax.

That would be a great partner to the 8mm if the PQ is right.

I'm still hoping they've got some fresh meat (07) for the Q PRIME lovers. A 4.3mm f1.7 would be awesome (24mm equiv).
(Hoping that all the Q stuff is combined into ONE announcement... leaving room for more).

No one cares about the Q enough to fake these.

Probably a good thing since the Tamron 18-270 is not available in the Pentax mount. Put some of that Magic Masala SMC on a good Tamron design and market the PZD as (an improved) SDM. Add a couple of these "imposters" into their lineup, and the SDM failure rate will plummet.
