The rumour mill is sometimes right, it seems. I wonder if they're keeping anything in reserve for Photokina: perhaps the rumoured 645D upgrade. Although the retention of the 16MP sensor in the K-5II will disappoint some, at least our present K-5s won't take too much of a dive in value, for the moment.

The new version of the Q will likewise dismay those who derode the original version. It seems some people did actually care enough about it to not only retain the concept, but upgrade it. Good on you Pentax.

Although there's nothing spectacular about this release, it does show Pentax is moving ahead, and more quickly than under its previous ownership.

1st post ever- long time Pentax user (well in digital terms since the *ist DS.

The mysterious 9th announcement saved for Photokina...hopefully not just a coincidence; Apple does it all the time with "One more thing...", which always turns out to be THE thing.

What's missing is a higher MP APS-C camera. I have a feeling the K-3 with the 24mp APS-C Sony sensor is the missing link. It will sport a new Prime processor, or twin processors to handle the larger files, 6fps, same or very similar body to the K5 (a very good thing) and priced up to $1500-$1600 body only (US).
With the rumored Nikon D600 on the way for $1500 with a 24mp FF sensor...tough call...

Unless...

The rumored Pentax 24mp camera is also a FF model using that same 24mp FF sensor from the Nikon...higher spec body (k5 build quality, but more K20d sized chassis), etc.

Ahh enough dreaming...I'm keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath. I'm using a K-x, so the K5IIs would be a pretty big upgrade...

I had little confidence in the rumours, but it seems a prudent move fwd by Pentax. Now the difficult part, deciding II or IIs. We'll have to wait test results. If IIs not worse than K10D for moire, then it will be my #1 choice.

The rumors were true because the source of them was Pentax. Most "rumors" are these days, it's a way for companies to get exposure.

If Pentax were the source of the rumors, why would they lead us to expect K-5 improvements like a new sensor, new image processor, more AF points, focus peaking, etc.? There are some long faces this PM, alas.

The 9th announcement is the HD coating.

Until digicame-info posted leaks, the rumours were pretty unreliable. Just sayin'.

The K5II/IIs surprised me, I really didn't expect that. This would suggest to me that the K3, assuming it is real, will be a very high end professional type body. There has to be some significant separation between the K5II and K3 in both features and pricing, otherwise the K5II will cannibalize K3 sales. The problem there is now you're getting into FF pricing territory and I still don't think the K3 will be a FF body.

What are the odds on a K300 entry level body now? Quite a bit Lower, I would think.

There never was a K300 entry level body. K-30 and K-01 are the entry level.

They didn't, official leaks were the photos (low res first, then high res, then a few more high res on their facebook pages which were up just long enough for them to be grabbed and spread). Others just filled in the gaps with a spec wish list.

K-30 is 850 dollars and thus is not entry level in price (or features!)

K-01 does not have an OVF and thus does not count (and never should)

I other parts of the world the K-30 is down to $600. This does not leave room for another DSLR under it.

Anouncements are one thing. Another is what they will show at Photokina. The announced products are for immediate release.
