K-01 does not have an OVF and thus does not count (and never should)
True, last year I entered the DSLR world thanks to the K-r which was less than 500€ here, cheaper than the D3100 and 550D but with more features.

If I had to make the same choice this year I wouldn't choose Pentax because the K-30 and K-01 are too expensive for entry-level cameras.

Ricoh is not interested in the low-margin low-end camera. They still can't get rid of the K-rs they have.

I other parts of the world the K-30 is down to $600. This does not leave room for another DSLR under it.
What part is that?

In the USA, B&H and Adorama are selling it for around 850 for the kit, 800 for the body.. thats mid-tier pricing.

Entry level is around 450-650 USD for kit (T3i, D5100, A37)

The Singapore unboxed price (due to monetary conversion) doesn't count.. unless, of course, you wish to mail your camera off to singapore (around customs??) whenever you want service.

They should.. that is a large market.

If Pentax had not had a K-x (at the time), I'd have not gone Pentax. Now I'm looking at K-30.. but also other options.. bleh.

Still no 1080/30 on this K-5II. Seriously?!?

But K-5 sensor with no AA has got to be blow your mind sharp. Still, I hope the video specs listed are incomplete. If this would have beefed up video specs (more frame rates, manual controls, headphone jack...) it would be a machine.

You need entry-level cameras to attract beginners into your nets.

Are they an authorized Pentax dealer? Also that is a body, not a kit. Looks like a grey market item..

Show me the lowest authorized Pentax dealer provided price in Australia. Is it anywhere close to 606 for the body.. the kit?

No, I bet it is closer to 840 AUD

I bought the k-01 for A$420. Pentax Singapore courier the package to me in 3 days. That is pretty decent price no?

The k-30 black is a lot cheaper in Pentax Singapore web store. I bought the white locally because Pentax Singapore won't sell me the body only package in this color.

The K-30 is at the same price the D5000 was when I chose the K-x. If Pentax had had an equivalent of the K-30 at the time I would have gone with that in a heartbeat.

The D5000 is a 3.5 year old body with the specs similar to my aging, entry-level K-x.. are you sure you don't mean the D5100? And if so, that is a bit more expensive..

Totally underwhelmed by all this fluff but I am sure there is something more around the corner.
