Pentax K-5 II price at B&H

The Pentax K-5 ii is listed on bhphotovideo.com for $1,299.00, see link. Opinions? Will it go down soon?

My opinion is why pay $1299 if you can get it for $879

Prices drop usually after 3-6 months.

If the AF performance for SAFOX X is terrific, I'll get the k-5ii. If not, k-30, here I come.

@Adam exactly my thought. Which is why I'm wondering how long it will be stuck at that price. Although that will mean stocks of the original k-5 will go down fast...

Yup. I'm underwhelmed, considering there were 9 announcements, that the only one even remotely intriguing is the Q-K adapter.

The 18-270 is overpriced.
The 560 f/5.6 is just silly-priced.
The 645 lens sounds great but I'm not going to spend $20k on a 645 system.
The new Q I might eventually purchase, but not at $600. When it gets to $500 with the lens I'll purchase.

I'm hoping they pull it down real quick soon (like after Photokina lol) because even if the D600 may cost $600 to $700 more, it's still a modern FF...

Same decision string here.

What I'm sure of is, with these releases, Pentax will be unheard in the noise going to be generated by Nikon at Photokina... however sad it may be, it's not our fault as users, this time.

Well, the K-30 didn't stick long. I ordered a Singapore version when it showed up cheap, and hardly had the box open before the use price was similar, but such is life.

I'm looking for value added for an existing K-5 owner. They don't seem to have included a 'what's different' list, but I do note
that thet expressly claim chromatic abberation correction for the entire FA lens family as compared to just the FA ltd subset in the original K-5. It occurs to me that this might be a 'big deal' on certain FA lenses--- the FA 24-f/2 comes to mind.

Since that correction information is apparently just in the software/ it presumably could be added to the existing K5's via a software upgrade,
but don't know if they would ever do that or not.

Logically it would also seem that if a present k5 owner were to consider one of these 'new models', (and planned on keeping his/her existing camera, that the new one should most certainly be one without the filter.... for the obvious reason that if you encountered a
situtation where the filter was needed----'one would already have the app for that'

I guess all those that were holding out are finding last-stock K5 bodies while they still can...

I certainly believe that folks have been underwhelmed by Pentax's offerings today. Rather than wait, we know with the K5 is and the new ones offer little in the way of additional capabilities - especially at the current offering prices. From reading Adam's post about the lens prices and what B&H is doing - trying to talk Pentax out of their current idiot pricing position, I have to believe that when common sense sinks in around Ricohland, that hopefully they understand that they are going to have to offer excellent functionality along with reasonable pricing.

I do have to say that I have been a B&H customer in the past, and even more so now. Given that their position is trying to talk Pentax down from the building ledge - playing the part of suicide counselor, just for that they are winning my business - even if I have to pay a tad more.

Thanks!!

FYI B&H dropped the price to $1199 after I pointed out to them that the press release said the MSRP was supposed to be $1199

Where is that? The 7D sells in the grey market here in RP for an equivalent of $1200... while the K-5/c still sells for a ridiculous $1,230 =))

I hate it when one's country has only a sole distributor of a product... freakin' monopoly keeping Pentax from becoming a major brand here...

Standard here in Australia as well... although It makes my choice easy when you can get the K-5 shipped for (way) less and also dodge the $1000+ price point where 10% Tax starts for imported goods I think body only goes for AUD$1259... and considering AUD$1 = USD $1.04 it becomes unthinkable

It's hard to shop local when I can get it for $AUD 900.00 from B&H
