I don't mind about the AF working at -3 EV or not. What would suit me better is a faster and more accurate system in everyday lighting conditions.

As always, great argument from you Norm. I agree - so I got a D800.
I hate the colours. Weird, it would come from a photoshop person like myself - but it adds hours to my PP. I want Pentax to come up with whats missing from its component - I see that its more likely for Pentax to come up with a better system than Nikon to change its colours. Also, my first camera - and the reason I am in so much debt - I want Pentax to succeed I see a company being pushed ahead by its customers through a healthy mix of supporters and haters of whatever it does.
I hated the colours too until I started using the Camera Neutral profile in LR4. D800E is an amazing camera.

I really don't know about this.

Many K-5 owners complained about AF, and now that it is supposedly fixed to what it should have been originally, Pentax thinks that all those who complained will plunk down $1,300 to buy another one.

I really don't know about this.

Do your pictures really live and die based on improved AF accuracy? Really? Is that all that is wrong with your work?

This lack of low-pass filter thing I am not so sure. I doubt you guys will be able to tell the difference on your laptop screen, or on you iPad when shown side by side.

Is this like a bridge camera that shuts up all those AF complainers until they come out with FF?

Why not call this K-3? It is as if they are admitting that this isn't much of a step up . . .

I am sorry - I don't mean to whine, but this release was disappointing. Do I want better AF? Yes, but I think that they honestly have to have more (and smaller) AF points to really improve the whole AF system. Can the II focus in near dark conditions? Maybe, but it means nothing if it focuses on the wrong thing because of the huge AF point.

And look, I do believe that it is unrealistic for a FF release this Photokina. Totally too soon...but they need to give their high end/pro users some indication that a true flagship is coming. Just let me know it is coming! The K5 was a great flagship TWO YEARS AGO. I could justify not going FF two years ago...but now I have wedding guests showing up with FF cameras...a D600 at $2000 will only make that worse. They ask me if I am shooting FF...hell, savvy clients ask me. I DESPERATELY want to be loyal to Pentax, but I cannot stay with them if they are going to stop trying to be competitive and are giving in to be completely irrelevant. And maybe they could stay relevant with an aps-c, but it needs to blow away everyone else's offerings and the K5 II is just not going to do it.

And what about that 560 lens? It is great that they released it, but what camera do they want people to put it on? Not to mention the chunk of change that it is bound to cost! yeah, there will be a few on here, but I think some of the people who could afford it would want a really high end camera to put it on.

I am with Pentax through the fall. I am not changing cameras in the middle of wedding season. I also have to watch the whole tax thing, so I have until next March before I seriously consider what I am going to do...but if those new FF cams from Nikon or Sony do play out, it might be hard to stay. I love my FA limiteds...they will make this decision terrible! I just hope that Pentax can let us know that a K3 is coming sometime in the next 6 months so I can stay.

I've had few autofocus problems with my old K-5, and I shoot theater without flash, usually at 3200 ISO, sometimes 6400. Maybe if you turn the focus assist lamp off your results are different. If the continuous tracking focus is appreciably improved, I might be interested, but with no more autofocus points and continuous focus not mentioned in the press release, well.... I just hope that there is something at Photokina to indicate that Pentax is thinking that only a minor fix will keep up with a rapidly advancing industry.

After seeing that a new Q is coming out, which seems as much a fashion accessory as a serious camera, and the dud of the K-01, I wonder if there's anybody, at the top, who has serious photographers in his thinking. Add in the fact that Pentax lenses are quickly increasing in price, much faster than inflation or the industry in general, and my enthusiasm for the company continues to go south.

I dont know about everyone else - but autofocus should not be what is wrong with my work That's the camera maker's job - whats wrong with my work should be composition, lighting, background...and they are! But as long as the focus is also wrong, I wont blame myself yet .

Especially because a lot of times you can fix the errors where it is MY fault. You know...composition (crop), Lighting (dynamic range), background (photoshop)....but misfocus? and mistakenly believed you nailed the shot? uuuuh.

This may well be the funniest comment ever made here at PF. I have not laughed this hard in a long time.

I don't think you're whining, for a photographer earning money shooting weddings I think you're being more than loyal to Pentax sticking it out this long.

On this forum, I think that the lack of accuracy in AF is like an erectile dysfunction. Once taken Viagra, one will be twice the man he used to be.

Ouch! It's tough when the pro's aren't tooled up as well as the spectators.

One thing (well at least one) puzzles me. The K-5II & (s) was treated like an introduction by Pentax. This wasn't a leak. Why introduce your flagship products a week before the show? Is this to have people circle the Pentax booth on their floorplans now in hope that they might stop instead of just passing by?

Or maybe the K-5II & (s) won't be the flagship Pentax products at Photokina. Maybe there will be something else as well?????
