Don't bother then. If you were to compare the K5 viewfinder to the viewfinder on any FF camera you will be very disappointed in the viewfinder on the K5.
Worthy price to pay, IMO if you are out backpacking or traveling and want a smaller camera.

Well, my point was more about EVF vs OVF rather than FF VF vs APS-C VF . The A65 is APS-C actually.

2 and 3 combined, I think you are correct if it were solely the K-3 but I think now they could get away with "we have K-5II and plan on releasing a K-3 early next year before CP+, we don't want you to wait that long".
I agree that whatever they intend to be the real k5 successor is simply not going to be in high enough production for Christmas. And I want the rumor/knowledge that something better is coming too, but putting that statement out there would shut down the sales of the k5 II/s. Some who are currently planning on upgrading to the k5II would wait to see what is coming in case they like it better and/or wait to see if the new camera takes down the price of the k5II.

The flip side is those who have been waiting for the k3 or ff and are tired of waiting. Some are going to leave and Pentax could possibly prevent that with a camera body roadmap or plan. The safest announcement would be a plan for ff...those upgrading to a k5II were not likely to consider a ff, so it would really hurt k5II sales and it would keep potential defectors around to see it. The lack of a plan does make it seem like aps-c is next...and it will make some think that FF is not coming at all.

Yep, well I've got the DA15 coming tomorrow, plus my 35 Ltd already, so I'm truly committing to APS.

They could overcome that by making the K-3 a bit more expensive than originally intended. If a K-3 is be rumored to be more expensive people will still buy the K-5II.

Yes, so the K3 has to be even more expensive then the K5IIs. And not just a little 100 or 300, because then everybody will just save a little cash extra and still go for the K3. No way anybody is going to buy a APSC DSLR for that amount of cash, if there's a FF out there for just little extra. So the only way that would work, is if the K3 is going to be FF.

Little extra? If an ASP-C pro model costs $1700 (like the D300s...), it's still at least $1000 below FF, and still $500 above the K-5 II. So a hypothetical K-3 + K-3s pair could be priced at $1700 and $1800.

But the D600 (FF!) is going to be $2200,- probably eventually ending up somewhere at $1900,-. The difference consists of mere pocket-change! Who's going to buy that APSC-body, when they can get FF for virtually the same price?

The K-3 is still listed on this chinese website as 24Mp APSC :

So, maybe...
Interestingly enough they also have the earlier rumoured K-z....

So you suitably forgot that the K-3 would get cheaper over time too. So your argument is not very valid.

I think the K-z is the K-30. At least I recognized the K-30 in the blurry K-z photos.

Ouch, seems like it's even $2100 body only, and they even sell it with an inexpensive FF kit zoom. That's pretty aggressive pricing. I'm beginning to wonder if there really was an APS-C K-3 in the works, but that Pentax dropped it when information about the D600 started to surface. A refined K-5 at almost half the price makes more sense then.

Nope, I didn't. If that APSC-pro model is going to land somewhere at $1400 and the D600 at $1800 (both a reduction of $300.) then that still is a only a difference of $400.

Edit: Adjusted for the new D600 release price of only $2100,-

Hmm, the group of people that would prefer a pro APS-C to a plasticky FF at the same price is probably not large enough for this market to continue to exist, but until FF cameras drop even more in price, K-5 II/IIs should, as "almost pro" and still significantly cheaper than the D600, be able to sell well.

Me thinks that if ever Pentax releases a FF it will be around $2,500 initially....considering Nikon had it for $2.1k and Sony for $2.8K. That's quite a lot of money for me for a hobby. I wish Pentax surprises us with a real budget FF.
