The link you have sent is for the 24mm tilt shift, not the 10mm f/2.8.

HA! May be sharper but if my 8mm fisheye is a example of what's to expect, I doubt it. Though that lens has hardly left my K-5 since I got it over a 1/2 year ago, I can't use any in camera JPGs produced from it given the massive CA adjustment required to make the image object edge detail clear of lateral CAs anywhere off center.

Why would you want to buy this and not a Sigma 8-16? this doesn't do AF, I guess it's a price matter?
Well, firstly, as someone said, it could be better. The 14mm f2.8 - well a few people here have mentioned its distortion - but it also scored a ridiculously high resolution figure in the tests various tester people did on it - like way higher than any zoom, and resolution is very important on a lens this wide, because it makes everything so tiny, you want that stuff to be supersharp for canvasses etc.

The other thing I quoted you for it... DOESN'T DO AF?? Um, so what? At 8 or 10mm, AF is pretty darn unimportant I'd say.
I have the Sigma 10-20 f3.5 version, and I think I've used AF once...

The UWA zooms tend to be pretty good, especially the 8-16mm which I think performs comparably (at least!) to primes such as the 14/2.8. You need to stop these lenses down for optimum performance but that's what you'd do anyway, presuming you are photographing landscape or architecture. Where a prime such as an 8mm could be beneficial would be if it was significantly smaller and more lightweight. That's handy if you are hiking or want to keep the size and weight of your kit down.

So basically I would have preferred this lens designed to be smaller and would give up a few f-stops for that. As it stands, I don't see a particular reason to go for it over the 8-16mm, unless the performance is insanely good.

Given price policy of Samyang I think this lens is going to be MUCH cheaper than Sigma 8-16, and it is likely to be smaller and lighter, faster aperture is huge pro for astrophoto, too bad for postproning release date...

I suppose there is a chance of sharper/less distortion with this lens than the 8-16.

I think the short of it is, this lens is F2.8.

Bump

I'm still patiently waiting for this lens.

Looks like it has been bumped to a Q1 2014 release.
