At least the abbreviations used on camera lenses mean something, even if some of the features are pretty much standard on all lenses, eg: multi-coating (SMC, UMC, etc.). To potentially go in another direction, I find some model designations for automobiles inscrutable. "Ltd" = limited, although such models never seem to be limited very much; but the Toyota "RAV" = "recreational activity vehicle??" or the Honda "CRV" = "compact recreational vehicle??" or the Chrysler "300" = 300 what?? (cubic inches? horsepower?). I think there's also a "CRX" on the market. At least if there's a name such as "Apache" or "Forester" or "Sebring" or "Impala" you know it's just a name.

Well, there's still a niche for a DA 11mm f/4.5 LTD!

Or perhaps a DA* 8mm SMC AF IF ED ASPH USM LTD - in black, silver, white, pink, or camouflage (for wildlife photographers).

I'm definitely still interested in this lens, but given that only 16 days remain in 2012, I'm going to go out on a limb and say they won't be hitting their end of 2012 mark. Hopefully we'll see something in early 2013.

I emailed Samyang and they said the lens is delayed and should be available by the end of next year
I guess I'll have to keep using my 14mm f2.8 until then.

Why would you want to buy this and not a Sigma 8-16? this doesn't do AF, I guess it's a price matter?
The Sigma 8-16 can hardly be considered rectilinear at 8mm, it doesn't correct barrel distortion until 12mm. And Samyang lenses are according to DxO some of the best lenses manufactured for K mount. AF for landscapes is vastly overrated. You can get good landscape and architecture shots on a lens like this estimating using the distance scale.

It will be on sale next year. April 2013. The price is ~1000 USD.

For the widest FOV on APS-C I use my 10-24mm Tamron or 6.5mm Opteka. On my full frame I use my 15mm Sigma.
