It out performs the samyang 35 1.4 then its safe to assume it will out perform the Nikkor 35 1.4 G too.

That $300+ also includes AF and Sigma's USB support, which is kinda nice.
But doesn't include a screwdrive AF nor an aperture ring.
Not that a lot of people wil be annoyed but it certainly does come into consideration for me.

Are you a Pentax shooter? Then it's more like a 50mm.

I am a Pentax shooter, and I do not like 35mm on my k-x. Neither do I like 50mm on my Super ME.

I prefer 35mm on my Super ME or 24mm on my k-x.

I'm the same, in film days I used 35mm as my "standard" lens with 24 mm for my wide option
I had the DA35 F2.4 and sold it, just didn't light my fire as a foacal length. I have the Sigma 30mm f1.4 which is an interesting lens to say the least, when it is good it is very good, but when it is bad iti is horrid! Still good to see Sigma keeping things fresh and supporting the K mount. Now how about a re-release of the 100-300 F4??

When and how is it bad?

That would be awesome, but please no OS for the Pentax version. The construction of the lens should support relatively straightforward weather-sealing which would be a nice plus.

It's really soft in the corners even stopped down. It's sharp in the center though so good for shallow DOF work.

It would be nice if Sigma removed the OS for that lens but I doubt they would go through the trouble of removing the OS for such few sales.

Held the lens (Canon mount) for a while a couple of days ago, what a monster! To me at least, I feel it's almost as big as the Pentax 200/2.8 lens, well, might be a bit shorter and slimmer, but not by much. I guess I'm spoiled by our tiny Pentax prime lenses, don't really like to carry that as a walk about lens. I'd much rather carry an FA31 or the plastic wonder DA35/2.4 instead.

Haha! Agreed.... Tried it also and oh well~ The sigma 30/1.4 is good enough! This 35/1.4 is huge... to me....too.... It really must deserve to be mounted on a FF body..

How is it compared to the Samyang? The Samyang is really huge but much lighter than I thought.
It sure looked good on my Super A

So, What about the Sig?

Indeed, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is fantastic.

This new 35mm f/1.4 is a full frame lens and thats its target market.
The interesting thing is that the aps-c 30/1.4 is larger than Pentax full frame lenses.
