FA 31/1.8 is so close - what's not to like about that lens?

(But honestly, even if I decided that I deserve the FA31 despite its high price, I would hesitate a little - because I ask myself how often I would really use it instead of my dear DA35 Ltd?)

Usually 2.4 gives me less DoF than I want with my DA70, but yesterday I snapped a night shot where I thought that a little less DoF to isolate the main subject would have been good. So I tried to compute what I would need to achieve that, and the result was a 645D with a 150mm f/1.0 or faster ;-)

It's just not reasonable that Pentax don't make such a lens. I'm sure a FF camera will solve everything.

Looks like Adorama has the Sigma 35/1.4 in stock, and B&H will by the end of this week. Looking forward to the reviews if anyone here picks one up. The 31 Ltd had been one of my long-range goals for acquisition, but the Sigma certainly sounds like a viable alternative...

Good grief, that's some serious vignetting on FF cameras. I'd thought they could do better than that with that monster lens barrel.

I believe it's only 67mm and it's no bigger than the Canon or Nikon equivalents. They note the vignetting as the only con. This is turning out to be an amazing lens!

Sigma has come a long way. It used to be that third party lenses were generally cheap pieces of crap but recently, they really upped their game and were coming close to the optical quality of the OEMs. Now they seem to be beating them outright and all for hundreds of dollars less.

But seriously, the vignetting is more pronounced than the vignetting I usually add in Aperture when I want vignetting

I wonder how it compares to the FA31 on FF.
