Originally posted by Asahiflex That's all nice and well, but Photokina is a consumer show. If this new 360 degree camera is a scientific/industrial camera then they've chosen the wrong show to put it on display.
I assume the counter people at the show know what this camera is for and how it's supposed to work. Is this information on the web already?
Actually, that is not true. it is not a consumer show, it is a trade show where consumers also can go and see the latest stuff. a big part of the photokina is for retailers, etc. It is just that the main focus is on the latest cameras etc.
About the 360 camera. What many do not understand is how R&D works. there will be budgets for everything. for upgrades, for new cameras and lenses. And also a budget for, let's try something crazy and see how it works. And I think this camera sits in the last part. they just tryd to see how far they can go. and is this bad? No, many times this is the only time they can think out of the box and try weird stuff. and many times out of these cray thoughts, new developments find their ways into consumer goods.
Imaging how much they will have to control flare etc on this camera. If they found a fantastic coating for it, and put it also on consumer lenses. wouldn't that be a good thing?
