From time to time KEH has no 5D Classics so they do find homes at KEH pricing.
I like KEH, but their prices on camera bodies absolutely suck compared to what cameras are going for on eBay. Their lens pricing is a little closer to eBay, but even there you typically have to pay a little more. But they do provide a nice service to those that understandably hate eBay or can't wait for an auction to end.
I don't recall the exact condition of the one that sold for $920, but I don't remember it having any major dings or scuffs on it. There are quite a few of them up for auction now ending in the next 2 days, bids currently range anywhere from $600-1200. The $1200 claims to be in mint condition. There's another one ending soon ahead of it that also looks to be in very good condition that's only at $960. eBay is a weird place. Also, keep in mind the 5D was a $3300 camera when it was first released, not everyone got an $1800 deal on it. Those that paid over $3k for it in 2006 and selling it now are losing around $2000 on it for 4 years of use.
Either way, your point is valid, when you look at from a yearly cost perspective virtually any camera aside from the $7000 giant Canikons are excellent values if you plan to sell it after 3 years of use. Hardly any camera will cost you more than $500 per year. Needless to say a film shooter from 20 years ago would have gladly accepted a $500/year operating cost.
However if you want real value K20D's are selling from $550-650 used now. Their price may drop to $300 in 3 more years, but a $125/year operating cost is nothing.
