Pentax has a "real line-up of lenses" for the 645 D

Pentax 645 Mount Lenses - Digital SLR Camera Lenses - Page 1 - SRS Microsystems

At least available in the UK they do.
Here in the USA B&H only has 2 lenses in stock with the 90mm not available yet. In the USA you pretty much have to buy used glass.

Ah OK.

I seems that Europe in general is much better served by Pentax than the US.

Looking at your link I am impressed with the 645 lens selection. I wish that were available here. I bought my Contax 645 back when Contax was still in business. I had it serviced while it was still supported, but Its days are numbered and even though I can still get a digital back for it I just don't see investing anymore in a dead system. The D800E is very close to being one camera to replace my Canon 5D and Contax 645 in a single camera, and with the DX crop mode in the D800E it could replace my K-5 as well.

Not at all :P

But I can tell you (as I'm reviewing one now), with enough light, it captures a huge amount of detail, so in certain cases it can be a very good camera indeed, both for photography and video (though the bitrate is lacking of course).

Alta Norway, a magnificent place, was there a long time ago, driving on the "arctic fjord high-way". Took bunch of pictures with my Kodak 110 something.

Post a link to the sales numbers.
even if he did produce them they are last year's numbers and don't reflect all the major new releases by all the big photo companies this year.

The landscape has completely changed, all the websites including Imaging Resource clearly acknowledge this, but certain people here on this forum refuse to. It's like they're stuck in 2010. just like our favorite brand.

Yeah, it's very nice here The whole of my county, Finnmark, is actually. Next time you visit, check out Lofoten, farther south, in Nordland county, it's magnificent.

The 645D is not really a "full-fledged" MF camera. It is using a 44 x 33 mm CCD sensor compared to 53.9 × 40.4 mm used by Phase One or even a true 60 x 45mm which would be a true 645. The 645D is the cheapest "MF" camera on the market, but compared to the D800E, which will be very close to matching it and is many times more flexible and functional, the 645D is way over priced.

Pentax needs to either cut the price of the 645D to compete with the FFs or they need to really improve the 645D so that it can compete with other MF options. Right now the Nikon D800E is a much better value and a much more capable camera for people who need that resolution.

A true medium format 645 would be 3.125 times larger than a FF. The Pentax 645D is only 1.6x the size of the Nikon D800E. The 645D is out classed in many ways by the D800E. Hopefully the new 90mm F/2.8 lens is $5,000 because it can handle a true 645 sized sensor and Pentax has one ready to go.
645D is ANOTHER market. No any sense to compare with FF. 44*33 is very popular sensor in MF cameras. Bigger and more MP = HUGE price.
645D is already big hit in MF market with new price 8800 USD.

We can buy or order almost any MF lens from Pentax.
No any problem.

Interesting. Neither of the big two NY camera stores nor Amazon USA have more than 3 Pentax 645 lenses even listed. There is no special order option for any glass but the 55mm, 25mm & the new 90mm.

I have not checked the smaller specialty shops.

Interesting infos.

With such a price tag for both 645 body and lenses, and the "nothing to hurry" proper to MF market versus 35mm's IQ's progresses, we should see the first Pentax FF body before Pentax replaces the current 645D IMHO.
Remember the Nikon D700 that is just now beeing replaced, after more than 3 years in production...

I dont think people really understand what the 645D is. It's fully rugged, DSLR handling, weather sealed medium format camera... I remember reading an article about all these cameras going to this harsh part of the arctics and the 645d was the only that survived, they had a picture of a guy using it while it was fully frozen, I don't give a shit what people say, lets see a D800 do that. The 645D is for expedition photographers, like real deal travel to harsh climates jumping in volcanos type of camera with IQ to match it's toughness. I'm starting to think pentax is not going to release a FF anytime soon, I don't see why people don't understand this, they don't want to admit to not coming out with one because it'll piss off all the internet users. They have barely any FF lenses currently being produced, you expect people to go hound ebay and craigslist for lenses, the limited lenses are even outdated with the loud autofocus. Honestly if people want FF they need to realize it's not going to happen and need to go elsewhere. When they say they are trying to fill gaps in the market, I think they were talking about the K-01 which didn't work out to well and the fact that they have the only WR Medium Format camera (till the leica S2 comes out) in a price range that a hard working professional photographer should be able to afford.
