When Tamron released the 18-270, there was a lot of gnashing of teeth in these forums about Pentax not having a super-zoom after the prevous super-zoom that was a rebadged tamron was discontinued [18-250]. In fact, lots of people here recommend that discontinued model. [I did not like it myself]

Now that Tamron has a new super-zoom, Pentax has simply done the same thing it did before...You asked for it. You got it!! Um, well, except for the sdm I suppose...

Why not WR? Would have been nice. Who knows? It maybe as simple as not wanting competition for its own zoom [18-135] or ever more simple as the fact that if its an original Tammy design, it may not lend itself to conversion to WR.

The scheme is VERY SIMPLE
FA*600/4 was rather complex lens
or 400/5.6
anyway, this lens could be sharp with low CA. but...I don't undestand the price (Falk Lumo too, by the way)...
It's like first price of Sigma SD1...
I agree the DA560 is overpriced at $7000 but you cannot predict the price of a lens by the number of elements. The type of glass material, coatings, and manufacturing tolerances impact the price as well as the performance.

Are you doing a lot of video? Otherwise I really, really can't see why the bulky-with-a-small-sensor GH3 can be attractive - so please enlighten me!
I like fast AF speed, small form factor (300g vs 700g 16-50 da*), WR, and Video of course.

The M4/3 has a smaller sensor, but the DOF difference is less than one stop compared to APS-C. Plus of course, I love to see what they have to offer.

Tokina exhibits 70-200mm F4 FX and 12-28mm F4 DX lenses at CP+: Digital Photography Review

Tokina is worth looking at when it comes to coming pentax lenses. This 12-28 F4 might very well be what is on the pentax roadmap as DA wide zoom

look good! wish they were 2.8's though... especially the wide since it is for cropped frames, the 2.8 wouldn't have been that bad.

It is on the roadmap, for 2013 (or later, they say); every product scheduled for a 2012 announcement was announced.

You're moving over just because of a converter?

As for it didn't launch, that's under Hoya, Pentax is now under Ricoh you know

Indeed, Hoya-Pentax actually presented the TC and was talking about a long telephoto - only to cancel them later (probably that was when bean-counters decided that Pentax should not "waste" too much on R&D). Pentax Ricoh resurrected these projects, the 560mm was announced and next month it will be on the market, and the TC was promised.

For me, it was just a complete lack of long-lens options. You can get a D600 and a (used) long lens for way under the price of the 560...

My only concern about the roadmap is that if these lenses were definitely coming out in 2013 why doesn't Pentax release more information about them now?

In my opinion Pentax should be giving out as much information as it can without compromising commercial secrets because it needs to attract new customers and retain the ones it's got.

I think the 20-35 or whatever should be a fairly unique lens though. Why release such a strange focal length otherwise?
Ever since this showed up on the previous roadmap,
I've been expecting it to be an update of the FA 20-35/4.

There's a downside to this lens, though:
It makes a fast 24mm prime even less likely.

Wouldn't that be a manual focusing Nikkor 800mm then?
I don't think it's cheaper than an A*600, though?

Because they will release the information when announcing them. Everyone does that.
Also, let's not forget these products are in development, specifications can change until the finished product.
