a little patience guys, the reviewers probably have prod units in their hands by now, or at least within the week. Who knows, maybe Adam is unboxing one at the moment (or at least tomorrow)

Bonjour,

My local FRENCH B&M photo shop is taking K-5 II pre-orders now in-store and also it's posted on their separate website, since a week or more ... J

I had an email from a local distributor in Slovenia that they expect the K5II and IIs bodies in early November

As far as AF goes I hope it goes from very last in the DSLR market to next to last anyway.
Going next to last would be a quantum leap.

Well I've read some confusing information regarding the new AF sensors in one of the threads here on PF. Basically it says that the new AF system is better for faster lenses (< f4), while it might be worse for slower apertures...
Anyone knows anything about it?

That wasn't "information".
It was speculation by one forum member.

Even if it is true that the centre cross point sensor comprises one f/2.8 line and one f/5.6 line (this is speculation, nothing is known) then this does not necessarily imply that in practice having only one line available for slower lenses (probably >f/4 wide open) will result in worse AF. Canon had these mixed sensitivity sensors in many models and apparently this approach works very well.

Indeed.

And based on such [mis]information, before it has even been shipped, before anyone has had a chance to use a production model of the camera, people are judging the camera, and already writing it off.

As to all this speculation, as the old proverb says, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating!" Let us just wait and see how the new models REALLY perform hands on.

A K5II versus K5IIs studio test shot has been posted on dpreview - see here

Studio Test Shot...K5-IIs!: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review

It's not official though I wouldn't be surprised if the poster had close connections with Pentax because he posted in a similar way to showcase the K-01's IQ earlier this year.

Well I wasn't sure what to think of it which is why I asked. It did seem weird to me Pentax would knowingly worsen the AF at smaller apertures.

If those are real, then those connections are like really close. AFAIK none of us in Manila who got to take home our RAW (at least PEF) samples from the K-5 IIs could convert them to jpeg. fine samples, look at all that detail!

I've gotten Moire patterns before with K5, so it's definatly possible without the filter, how much more is more the concern. I have a feeling it won't be much more.

I cant believe such reviews , when somebody can take this kind of conclusions:
"Conclusion....we have a winner in the K5-IIs! The lens used is Pentax-M 50mm f/4.0 macro. Manual focusing with focus lock confirmation."
Manual focus...

"Not at all, I even tested it at f/13, f/16, f/18 and f/22. Only at f/22 diffraction is obvious, at least with this lens."
F16 without diraction???

"I did a series of test using all three K5, the K5 and K5-II produces the same and exact image quality."
different sensor, different procesor, same IQ??? just compare K30 with k5....
