Sad, but true at my favorite B&M store/internet site in France ... wait and it'll come down hopefully. J

I think he thinks the difference is too small for the $100 price increase if you buy the K-IIS. An FF at $600 more is not an expensive difference I guess...
Nope, I meant the difference is just too noticeable to my eye that I would have to go the "s" route on an upgrade

I don't know if it has been posted here before, here are some K5 IIs DNG raw shots with firmware 1.0, made in Hamburg, Germany.
These are so stunning, I really want that camera and hope to get one in 14 days.

This is the link - you must be a member in that German speaking forum:

Whoa, there are units with firmware v1.00 already? Good to hear. I guess the wait won't be for very long.

You must be logged in to see the download links (up to 25MB) from "Evil-Homer".

Google Übersetzer will help you to translate from German (Deutsch) to English - just enter this link
DigitalFotoNetz.de :: Thema anzeigen - K-5 II und K-5 IIs jetzt offiziell
and click on the translated link

I'm slowly working my way through all the pages of that thread, downloading all the jpg and DNG samples. So far, I'm very impressed. Registering with that forum was certainly worth it.

Only one DNG was uploaded to be available without registering to that forum (from the post from 20. Okt. 2012, 12:51):

File-Upload.net - IMGP2929.DNG

But that is not the most impressive one, which would be the tower of the church IMHO.
I ended up with 5 DNG samples posted by Evil Homer. I agree the tower shot looks fantastic, but I also noticed that IMGP2913.DNG is pretty interesting as well. It shows vents along a roofline & when zoomed in to 100%, you can still make out what I thought was a blob, but is a spider. I'm sure it would be visible with the K-5 II, but I think it would literally look like a blob without the detail, but I'm just guessing (hoping).

Great NTSteve - you found your way to a German board.
Others - who are really interested in those first first class pics - can do that too.
Just register as usual - there's no need for translation because download means download.

btw: the tower is/was Hamburg's landmark #1 in centuries for sailors coming home (along the river Elbe from the atlanic/northern sea), called the "Michel". The new copper hood will take up to 30 years to become green again because of the clean air now

My written German is a bit rusty, but it would be great if someone could ask permission to post those links on this forum, or at least allow someone on this forum to post new links to the same downloaded files. I know registering is easy enough, but I don't think many here would necessarily want to do that to see a handful of samples.

I asked Evil Homer by PN (I'm a newbie there too, so don't await something).

Here in central Europe it's in the middle of the night.
An answer (if any) can take some time.
