Cool, seems like I have to begin sell some stuff to make money for this K-5 IIs! Should be perfect for me. K-7 is still for portraits...someone could be offended for too sharp images
I once took a casual picture with my M 100/4 - Ted was NOT impressed! I should have put a soft filter on.

In my opinion, the k-5ii images look worse then I would have expected from a k-5 classic.
That was exactly my first thought.

But, then these are photos of photos, so what can we really tell?

More posts on some 'theoretical' EVF for pentax and a 'what it could have been -K01, FF' thread than this one which just added new and real samples.
Confirms that ppl here are more interested in 'make belief', 'design my own camera', than real ones

+1.
There are many who can't afford or even want own the real thing but can only resort to conjuring up make believe ones.

Back on topic, if the actual release date is less than 2 weeks away (I'm relying on B&H's website expectation for deliveries) then some IIs bodies should be in the hands of reviewers a little time prior to that date. Fortunately, there is nothing make-believe about the new cameras, other than the levels of expectation that some of us might have. Personally, I expect it to be good enough to cause those of us with K-5s (and who haven't already made up their minds) to be scratching our heads quite a bit, as we weigh the value proposition. I also expect the other APS-C manufacturers to be watching closely, and considering doing the same with some of their rival cameras.

Still no tethering

I spoke to someone yesterday from Pentax UK about tethering, apparently there is an update in the mix and the K-5 II AND the K-5 IIs will receive this update but "Not to worry, the update will work fine for the K-5 because in general they are the exact same", Now who can ask for a better bit of information from a Pentax employee. Yes they are the same camera, we just boosted the sensor and auto focus nicely and added a few hundred £'s or $'s for your benefit.

Interesting shots. Nice detail in the K-5IIs shots. Better than in the K-5II shots I would say, though there's no real shots that allow for head-to-head comparison.

No moiré to be seen, but probably not moiré sensitive subjects? Although there might be a hint of it in the roofs on the right in image #6?

All-in-all impressive results... It won't be an easy decision: to upgrade or not to upgrade from my K-5?

Pentax went to Canada (?)

Impressive shots. There's a LOT of detail there in the K-IIs landscapes.

Side-by-side shots of the same scene by the K-5 original vs K-5 II vs K-5 IIs are going to be very interesting.

Edit: and no moire either, even in the roofing of the resort buildings in image #6.

There is some coverage on dcwatch of the 30 Sept Osaka K-5 II (+Q10 + 560mm etc) event here:

Original

They even had a 'dark corner' set up to help people test the improved SAFOX X AF:

But no downloadable image samples on dcwatch. Sounds like Pentax was prohibiting attendees taking image samples of their own, as the dcwatch report says 'Can not take out of the captured image'.

Next session is Oct 7 in Tokyo.
Cool way to show off a new AF system lol

Yeah I thought so too. To me it looks kind of a pervy little nook

I guess it's the -3 EV performance of the new AF they want to show off though. All very innocent.
