You can see color morie if you look really close on the 100% crops of the K-5IIs, but the K-5IIs shots are brighter and have much more detail. I would assume removing the AA filter would effect exposure and possible yield brighter images, but this seem a little much. The detail is much better in the K-5IIs shots. This will be a great camera for B&W work.

And once again, in classic Pentax style, there are no official image files that users can review to determine if the k-5iis files are actually sharper then the k5-ii files.

In my opinion, the k-5ii images look worse then I would have expected from a k-5 classic.

But, then these are photos of photos, so what can we really tell?

Thanks for that first post of yours. Welcome to Pentax Forums!

and... those IIs images vs. that "unknown 24mp FF" ... btw is moire supposed to be present in those shots? I see lots of recurring man-made patterns there...

Indeed. They are welcome but there is not much to see here in terms of detail.

Actual sample K-5IIs produced JPG's (DNG's too) available for download will hopefully start to appear soon.

K-5IIs has approx.~ 3000 LW/PH (maybe 3100-3200 LW/PH) - IMO, A900 has 3600 LW/PH. D3X - 4000 LW/PH. 5D Mk II - 3700 LW/PH.
It's unreal to compete with FF sensor in term of resolution.
If K-5IIs has 24 MP APS-C sensor and no AA filter - it can compete. NEX-7 has 3400 LW/PH.

Please, don't make myths.

We can say that K-5IIs will have one of the best resolution in APS-C world...
Ricoh GXR A16 unit has no AA filter, SD1 Merill - too.

Exif on those big pictures comes up as K5 for all of them so I't take with some salt regarding the claim that one if them is from an unknown 24meg sensor.

These are pictures of prints from pictures by the various cameras. Apparently a K-5 was use to photograph these prints.

Impressive!
If the difference is so obvious on prints, I would expect it to be better on PC.
I like it that the K5IIs manages to squeeze out that bit more for foilage, which most cameras with a AA filter will simply mush up.

Already put up my K5 for sale.

Cool, seems like I have to begin sell some stuff to make money for this K-5 IIs! Should be perfect for me. K-7 is still for portraits...someone could be offended for too sharp images

Nice to meet you.

Professional photographer had to say becomes almost the same resolution of the 24mp FF if you use a FINESHARPNESS.
And I do not seem to occur moire as you might think.
I want to tell you that most people were surprised at the resolution at the venue. Please look forward to the official photos.

Certainly. I think a lot of people are very interested in the K-5 IIs.

Thank you for putting up your images. The images suggest very good things about the new camera.

There is some coverage on dcwatch of the 30 Sept Osaka K-5 II (+Q10 + 560mm etc) event here:

Google translated
Original

They even had a 'dark corner' set up to help people test the improved SAFOX X AF:

But no downloadable image samples on dcwatch. Sounds like Pentax was prohibiting attendees taking image samples of their own, as the dcwatch report says 'Can not take out of the captured image'.

Next session is Oct 7 in Tokyo.
