gaah more samples! Pentax, shut up and start shipping NOWWWWWW

oddly enough though, why does he keep shooting at f/11? can't it be done at around f/4-5.6? thought it could be because he was using an f/4 lens... maybe he should try something else with it. Something more common like an M50 1.4 or DA35

If K-5IIs has no moire in JPEG, it could mean that there is incamera antimoire filter (sotware level).
BUT...If K-5IIs has now moire or maze artefacts in RAW at all, I can't believe that K-5IIs has no AA filter. Maybe, the system is like in D800E?

It's some kind of trick...

Apparently not - there is no AA filter.
K-5II / K-5IIs?PENTAX RICOH IMAGING
First is "optical glass"; then, the UV- + IR-cut filter, and then, the sensor.

I wonder what that "optical glass" is.. normal glass to protect the sensor?

It's the most "normal" type of glass used in optical devices, with no special properties.
In this case, it is needed for the Dust Reduction mechanism (i.e. because of DR, two filters are required - one fixed on the sensor, the other one in front of the first, linked to the DR's piezo elements).

If K-5IIs has no moire or maze artefacts in RAW at all, how to explain it?

I think the f/11 aperture has something to do with it. I expect to see moire in shot using wider apertures.

A limited range of test shots to examine, probably. No doubt it can be produced if people want to find it.

But it could also be that moire (and false colour, which no one talks about for some reason) may simply not be very easy to produce with the K-5 IIs unless very specific shooting conditions occur.

It's funny that all this moire angst has cropped up around the K-5 IIs, as if it were a new issue or a huge concern. 645D users are probably laughing at all these K-5 people losing sleep about moire.

Yes Indeed. This has caused a lot of anxiety and I think some heartburn as well.

I've got shots with the K5 with moire without trying, so I'm sure if the situation was met, same lens, same distance, same suit person was wearing, same lighting it would be just as apparent or more so with the K5 II. That being said with said lens and shoot there were only like 2-3 photos out of a couple hundred that it appeared in, so the situation has to be right to produce such artifacts.

Agreed, and furthermore, I'm sure it's already been said, but moire is very easy to remove in just a few seconds with any good post-processing software i.e. Lightroom, Capture One, etc.
