so I learned to adjust by focusing somewhere beyond the person (sometimes even using the floor in front of the person I'm shooting....) to get the job done right. I do sometimes get weird looks from people because of that though.. lol

and much thanks to Evil Homer
My K200D performs at opened apertures in low light badly...
But, if to close FA77 till f/2-2.5 the situation is much better...The same with FA43.from f/2.5 performs good.

K-5IIs works fine wide-opened. Already checked at Russian Photo exhibition in St.Peterburgh.

Really? I thought your K200D AF was very reliable but the K5 AF was not at all ?
Maybe I did not get it right last time you wrote about it..

No, he first says his K200D is NOT good wide open though he said the opposite earlier.

Never said about very good low light performance of K200D wide-opened. It depends on lens too. But, K200D is rather slow and not very good wide-opened.
It's good in good light. And it can focus in low light - slower, or very slow, sometimes faster...But it could.

As for accurancy - if K200D can lock focus, 90-95% - the picture is in focus and sharp.

Yes. Click below for full resolution of 100% crops.

It is my belief that the k-5IIs files can be sharpened further than the k-5II (or original k-5).

It seems like it would be able to take the sharpening better- you have better resolution at the pixel level to begin with.

Yep, i agree. I bought my K5 in Feb of 2012 and myself/others at the time were saying this is the last camera i'm going to buy for awhile, the K5 is perfect, etc.. A friend just bought a D600, and he told me that there were reports of the shutter spreading dust to the sensor. I've been poking around the Nikon D800D600/ forum on Dpreview, and i couldn't believe the amount of anti-Nikon rhetoric on that forum, some very unhappy customers..

The K5IIs pictures look really good, but maybe i'm just getting too old, or too cheap (more like it) to buy a new camera every year, and go thru the drama of sorting everything out. My K5 is still performing admirably and taking good pictures, rain or shine, with a really quiet shutter, I'm going to keep it for another year before i poke my head up to see what's going on in the market place.

My K-5 dates back to November 2011, thus it's time to dump it for a slightly better "II" and/or "IIs" upgrade ... NO, Not really ... I got my K-5 with a 4 year warranty (@ zero add'l cost) because like you said this camera would be the last one that I'd buy for a while... any "upgrade" budget it better allocated to the purchase of top-notch glass IMHO ... Sure.

I shoot as a hobby and I revel in associating that hobby with as much misery and anger as I can. And I wish to freely share my misery with anyone who falsely enjoyed his hobby until he met me. What else are photo forums for?
Putting up pictures and making people like them.
