K200D has weak points too.
Technical problems are why they have an R&D department.

There are a few things you don't understand.

1. You are often perceived, by more than one person, I'm sure, to be a troll because you have nothing positive to say about any product, or anybodies opinions, or any company, or..............................
2. Nothing is necessarily right just because you said or thought it.
3. Nothing is necessarily wrong simply by virtue of someone else having said it.
4. You stated earlier in the thread "P.S. Anyway, I don't care about Pentax cameras and lenses anymore. I have 6 primes and K200D and it's enough for me.I've lost interest to modern Pentax gears.", yet you continue to make post after post on the subject. Apparently you have only lost interest in buying, owning, or using Pentax; you still seem to have a keen interest in bashing it on the forum, which is why...... (See item #1)

To keep this thread from spiraling into a cat fight, let us now accept that:
1. Pentax is here to stay
2. Pentax will not be resting its laurels on old technology
3. There will always be Pentax haters (as well as die-hard lovers).
4. Everyone's opinion is valid, but not necessarily accurate (reiterating Jim's point 2 and 3) - therefore please do not keep asserting an opinion as it is generally not well received and will incite more animosity (not a desirable outcome).
5. People who shoot more and argue less on the forum are generally happier.

Enjoy.

All this talk about the GXR made me have a fresh look at it.

It's safe to say that this is something of a "special model" too!

The new A16 16-55mm zoom looks like an absolute monster and is quite spectacularly ugly to boot. It's a glorified DSLR kit lens at twice the price. The soon-to-arrive 16-50mm power zoom on the NEX renders it instantly obsolete.

The GXR body itself may have been feature-rich back in 2009 but it's now looking pretty long in the tooth.

I can see why the GXR has a cult appeal, but I am so not part of that cult.

Anyway, a K-mount module for the GXR is a terrible idea. Products that appeal to a small subset of a tiny market are a guaranteed fail.

I found my FA31mm and DA*55mm also faster in focussing.

OK, this is my take on this.

1: They want to keep the cameras small, with an OVF & SR. Size is the overriding prerequisite
2: They can't fit this stuff in with current technology to their satisfaction (size)
3. They are waiting for sensor tech (with phase detection) to catch up (smaller)
4: They are waiting for EVF tech to catch up (do away with the pentaprism)
5. They are waiting for the market to catch up to the MILC thing
6. They are waiting to release a mirror-less FF (when the tech is good enough for that size camera)
7. They are waiting for .................... (fill in own humorous line)
8. They are proving yet again that size really does matter. Especially when confronted with a big mirror box.

PS: And if the K-01 was a one-off then I don't see any reason why they can't knock up a one-off FF.

I confirm for FA 31mm

Also, the small Q view-finder O-VF1 works fine with K-01 and 31mm.

I wanted to buy K-01...But...Didn't...It's surprise for me - new firmware. AF is much better with new firmware.

But I think it's bad idea to cut the line of mirrorless with K-mount.
I think that it's real to develop new body of K-0* with smaller size with K-mount and more features (close to K-30) + EVF as option.
Reject Marc Newson's work and let K-5's constructors to do new body...

Lol, I think there may be a few in Pentax who will be very keen to wait as long as possible before reading the latest sales reports from their home market. BCN sales rankings in Japan has various Pentax Q kits at 37, 50, 54 and 80 and the K-30 at 74. Er, that's it. No K-01 in there.

Wow, big difference in speed. But I thought the K-01 autofocus speed was intentionally slow, to minimize the sound of AF during video. I know there's no full time autofocus during video, but if I recall correctly, you can invoke it by hitting the AF button.

Thanks for posting this comparison.

Kudos to Pentax for this firmware update
I've always been tempted with the K-01 for use of my MF glass especially since I picked up a 28mm f2

What if the Pentax K-01 isn't just a special model, but a new line of Pentax cameras? Would that be such a bad thing? Wouldn't it be rather fine with light, yet solid, and hopefully weather sealed Pentax cameras without a mirror?

I think it would be great!

I feel that a K-11 is getting popular as an idea for the future

But your vision is a little to high to frame the good way I guess or did you alter the O-VF1?

Or stick with the succes that K-01 is (or can be).

Well looking at that list states #34 D600; #46 D800; #58 5DIII; and#68 5DIIkit so investing in FF isn't going to bring that list closer for Pentax.
