Kidding aside (love your work, Ron), am I the only one who downloaded the resort photo and noticed some areas that look "overly contrasty?" The moiré is minimal (color banding in the roof tiles), but I noticed some strange artifacts (esp. in the blue channel) over some of the yellow and orange details. I wonder if this is due to the lack of AA filter, or the choice of in-camera JPEG processing (bright and crispy)?

EDIT: added a picture - the density of the blue channel in this orange-yellow area is double the deepest shadows (and other orange areas), and equal to the sharpening halos visible elsewhere... I highly suspect the in-camera JPEG processing isn't tweaked for the lack of AA filter!

**BTW, in case anyone is wondering why I was "channel surfing" the posted files (looking at individual color channel densities), it's because color moiré patterns will stick out more on a channel-by-channel basis.

There's some fringing there for sure - lens related. You can see it on the edge of the water-drops and a few other reflective points. Is that what you mean? In-built CA correction was turned off I notice.

It seems like test shots are always uninspiring photographically wise. However, having said that, I'm impressed by what I see here (IQ)...

Looking at the water splashes, I wouldn't say it's motion blur... initially I'd say it's some sort of flare or CA, but... hmmm.

Its just their JPG settings. The EXIF in the JPEG says:
Contrast: High
Sharpness: Hard.

So they went with a bit of a punchy look.

Well, their "punchy look" picks up on some areas of color and not others... which reaffirms why I only shoot raw.

Wow, I was in Banff this summer and shot some of those exact places. The chipmunk was probably shot up on the mountain that you get to on the Banff Gondola. I have some of those same shots from that trip. Could even have the same chipmunk

They were right at the peak near the old stone observatory shack.

I carried my K5 all over. I do remember seeing another Pentax or two but not sure if they were K5's.

The reason it's interesting to me is that the weather and time of day were the exact same as when I was there. Makes me think that one of those Japanese tourists walking around with DSLR's (which were the high majority) may have been carrying a secret K5II and I would have never known...! LOL!!

Well for example Banff shot #6 was made on 11 September 2012 at 1:13pm. Were you there then?

Maybe in one of your crowd scenes you might be able to pick out the Pentax photog.

Ha! I guess not. I was there in early August. The weather and sunlight looks identical though which got me thinking.
